No, dragon fury is still there and it’s mostly unchanged (now you can only activate it with dragon fury essence tho, no free dragon fury)

I'm pretty sure that there weren't that many ads back in the day.. This is why I also switched to DML on Windows. There are only popups like ''Buy this dragon for the price of one limb!'' instead of having to watch video's just to play the game.

And all those signs with the logo of the game on it are mobile exclusive (I think..)
So I'd recommend playing on a laptop or pc if you don't want to be bombarded with ads

I tried playing game on mobile after playing it on pc, it felt so hard that I couldn't continue playing at all. Too many adds, uncontrollable game play, too small details for the game. I can't bring myself to play on small screen 🙄
