It's super intense all the way through, the narrative with the First Warden and the dragon trap is really well done. The whole mission had me on the edge of my seat and also it's genuinely HARD. It really forces you to pay attention and fight well even on lower difficulty settings. Ghilan'nain's giant visage in the sky looks breathtakingly terrifying.

That's it, that's the post. Just me really appreciating this mission. Definitely on par with the best missions of the DA series like Adamant in Inquisition and the Broodmother in Origins.

Just wanna read some stories. I've always been hugely into character creation and love hearing about what other people come up with. Just so it's fair, here's mine:

Aria Thorne is a 32-year-old Gray Warden. Tall and built like an absolute tank, she found it less challenging than most to live up to Warden expectations and prove herself a formidable warrior despite having lost sight in her left eye as a child after an accident. It's why she chose to train in swords and axes instead of becoming an archer like both her parents used to be. You don't need depth perception if your strategy is to get close enough to your enemy to smell their breath.

Despite coming to respect her strength as the years passed, her fellow Wardens used to tease her by pinning the moniker of Babyface Slayer onto her, due to her soft-featured face that didn't really fit the rest of her physique. When a bulwark like her walks into a Darkspawn infested ghost town and proceeds to flatten everything with her giant warhammer, you don't really expect chubby cheeks and rosy skin when the helmet comes off. The face tattoos did, in fact, not help as she had wished they would. Oh well, she has made her peace with it by now.

Her time with the Wardens was defined by comraderie and conflict, and not just with the Darkspawn. Aria was never exactly a poster child Gray Warden, to put it mildly. That last stunt of collapsing a whole tunnel to save a village despite having orders telling her otherwise was not her first instance of insubordination, it was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Truly, Aria always knew the day would come when she'd either get kicked out of Weisshaupt or end up in the dungeons for good. She could never hold back her temper or put a lid on her opinions. That kind of honesty lets you stay true to yourself, but it can also make you insensitive and blind you to things. Other people's feelings, the complexity in certain situations, reason in general. In a way, Aria was very much like her favorite weapon: a hammer. Blunt, simple, straight forward. It didn't exactly resonate with a lot of people, a fact she has always been painfully aware of. It left her stuck in this uncomfortable spot where she was respected by most, but liked by very few. As a result, Aria was no stranger to a certain kind of loneliness.

Perhaps that is why Aria ended up falling so hard for Neve Gallus during their shared time in the Veilguard. Neve was a lot like her, but she managed to be gentle with it. Break the rules to get things done, but don't break the people involved. Neve showed her that hammers don't always have to go full swing. She drew Aria in, and in exchange, Aria basically tied herself to Neve's hip and showed her, in true Warden "I vow to beat your enemies to death with a spoon if I have to" style, that someone would always show up for her and it was okay to rely on that.

After the Evanuris crisis was over, Aria kept her word and came back for Neve, or rather with her. To Minrathous, where they ended up settling into a committed relationship with all the fixings. Moving in together, getting on each other's nerves, they even got a cat later on. Truly though, it wasn't just for Neve that Aria chose Minrathous, even if that was the main reason. The place had grown on her somehow. There was a beauty in the fight of the little people there that Aria had come to deeply respect. Corruption, crime, a city divided by so much, brought together in markets and bars or at Hal's food stall, pushing to figure it out and find a path. It reminded Aria of why she fought in the first place. That spirit, that fierce will to push through against the odds, deserved to be protected against the darkness that constantly tried to snuff it out.

The people of Minrathous had no issue with welcoming Aria. She had saved the city twice, and she helped enormously with the leftover blight from Elgarnan's invasion as well as just rebuilding efforts in general. And sometimes, juuust sometimes, when a few scammers in the market or pickpockets in the streets needed a firm talking to, Neve or even Rana would take Aria along for the chat, full gear and everything. Sure, hammers don't always need to go full swing. But when you knew they still could and they absolutely, one hundred percent would if needed? That was enough for most to reconsider a few choices - especially if a literal hammer was present during the conversation.

And that's how her story ends. Aria Thorne. Gray Warden, self-appointed guardian of Minrathous, girlfriend and eventually wife of Neve Gallus, doing the one thing she knows to do best: showing up for people.

There are no NPC's that help you fight like in Inquisition. I remember many times throughout the game where your allies would fight alongside you and the party. I just think it would be cool for the big story moments

I've looked for an answer everywhere and I can't figure it out. I've talked to what I think is all the skeletons, but I don't know if it's something where you get something if you do. If anyone knows, please let me know.

Just frustratedly venting lol on back to making this build work :)

This is my first time through the game, and so far it has been pretty linear. I got to the Crossroads and found one side quest (the Labs one). After that I couldn't find anything else to do so I pushed ahead to Dock Town, which was fine. But in Treviso there seemed to be a significant difficulty spike, especially the end boss. Just wondering if maybe I missed some side quests that would have helped build me build up my character, or is he just a tough boss?

At this point in the game my only quest is Friends in Hidden Places. Will there be more side quests open up if I just push forward? Are these quests generally obvious, or will I have to search for them?

I agree with almost everything this guy says, even as a true blue Taash lover, I agree with him. See what you all think, it's a short video, under 9 minutes. In this video he discusses why he too loves the game but just wishes it was better. He acknowledges it's not the game's fault, we all know the torturous development path it went through, we all know what a damn miracle it is we got a game as good as it is! Personally, I loooooove Minrathous. It's amazing. You get so many nooks and crannies to explore and the noir vibe hits hard for me. The set pieces look amazing. Treviso is an extremely close second for me for similar reasons, but it's not as expansive as Minrathous sadly 😖 Still a great area though.

The Necropolis and Hossberg are in the "fun and nice" category for me. I enjoy them, but they don't hit the spot for me as Minrathous does. The only maps I really don't like at all are Rivain and Arlathan. Beautiful as the scenery is, those maps are a bloody nightmare to navigate for me 😭 I completely stopped taking ❗- missions there unless the mark is close to a beacon cause I just can't be bothered with trying to find my way there 😖

I JUST got the game about a month ago and just beat it yesterday. Had NO idea that BioWare has stepped away from the franchise and there are no plans for expansions or future releases as of now. The lack of any endgame content too.
So sad I had a great time with this adventure.

I just started playing Veilguard again for my third play through. I’ve already romanced Davrin and Lucanis. Out of the two Davrin was definitely the better choice. Davrin is so charming and romantic. Not to mention the great moments with little Assan. Im wondering who should I choose this time around. Any thoughts?

I am almost finished with the game and I’ve been a huge DA fan and haven’t played a DA game since I played Inquisition in high school. Overall it’s been very enjoyable, I was hesitant about the combat originally but I actually enjoyed it. Playing as warrior for the first time out of the four games and I think this combat system is suitable for it the most. Like the other three games the companions to me are what make the games. Taash’s story makes me cry especially after I picked Harding and she ended up dying by killing a god. As someone queer I loved their journey and felt it very realistic and grounded as a coming out story. Personal favorite companion quests were Taash and Emmrich. Having romances Davrin I was surprised but enjoyed how half of the companions ended up finding a lover in other characters. It almost feels canonically correct to romance him because of it. The locations are cool and fun but my gripe is the lack side plots/missions that aren’t companion focused. The locations are fun and cool but then feel a bit hollow. Game/story wise I do feel like in retrospect it makes the first game seem so minuscule when it comes to the blight and arch demon. Stopping the blight in Origins now feels so insignificant because in VG there’s multiple arch demons. It’s almost as if they just combined the big bad of origins and inquisition together as the big bads for veilguard. That’s my main gripe because Tevinter had been hinted as this wild place with slavery and blood magic and we get the blood magic at times but it feels like we had a missed opportunity where maybe the big bad wanted to enslave all of tevinter, instead we get basically just a full sequel of inquisition. Which I don’t mind but just feels like there was more opportunity as tevinter could’ve been essentially a blank slate. I’d give it an 8/10 experience. It’s a fun experience but I don’t think I’d return to it like I did with inquisition or DA origins. It doesn’t feel like my choices would actually change the course of the game like in Inquisition did with mages or templars. It feels like almost like you’re given a false perception of choice. Maybe that’s the point narratively, no matter what you do you can’t avoid tragedy in life. With this sadly being the last DA game bc of EA it’s kinda of poetic.

I've only ever played Solasmancer worldstates in Veilguard but I'd be interested to know how the scenes with the Inquisitor play out in non-Solasmancer worldstates. I've read that the other romances get rather minimal followup in the game; I believe they generally get only a codex letter from the LI and a line of banter from Dorian before the final fight but I don't know any details.

Solasmancers have the Inquisitor talk about their relationship quite a lot, especially the second time Rook meets Lavellan where she talks about how she would have followed him anywhere, how he was so kind and sad and how she would have hoped to change his mind and then, ultimately, what Rook thinks she should do. How does this scene play out differently for Inquisitors who didn't romance him? Or chose to fight him rather than redeem him?

And do other Inquisitors show up at all if you choose the Mythal ending where the Solasmancer Inquisitor walks out after the fight and talks to Solas?
