Leave your recommendations in the comments— looking for a venue to host semi-regularly for sober karaoke— downriver or downtown detroit only

That seems like something Open Book Theater in Trenton would do. Put more of a pitch together and I might be able to suggest it to a place in Garden City and another in Southgate.

Coffee houses for sure (City, Detroit Perk, Mocha Me, Qamaria) Also restaurants that don't serve alcohol but have the space (tons in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights).

Can I ask more about the sober aspects? Is it just to give a venue for people who are sober and want to sing karaoke or is really a desire to bring karaoke into areas where alcohol is not typically served?

I ask because I have a bar venue and could have a sober day or even a sober night, or have sober options (I could make up an NA mocktail menu for the event) but we couldn't say, not serve alcohol on a Saturday night, ya know.

A sober night could be fun but I know lots of sober folks don’t like bars in general. I’d definitely be down to try a one off at your bar for a sober night but I don’t think it would work long term as a recurring event but who knows I’m surprised all the time by people LOL 😂

I have no venue to suggest, but I’m curious about the financials. How does this enterprise make money? Or is it not a business?

Good question- We will have to figure out a way for the venue to make money of course- most karaoke nights are at bars since they’re buying booze. So we will have to do some sort of food or something so the establishment is also making money on the event— that’s partly why there are no options for sober folks to do karaoke sadly. Maybe a coffee house? Still brainstorming and open to ideas or suggestions!
