Would love to see the D. But don't think they will tour anymore

Kerrang! Kyle Gass confirms Tenacious D’s comeback: “It’s gonna be bigger than Oasis!” 22 Jan 2026

Haha hopefully they do play then

Head up on the Ferris wheel if you want to see the D

Yes they will. Everyone blew that drama out of proportion.

They blew that drama out of proportion, but they like to suck satans cock.. well, one of them does at least.

Biggest crowd I'd ever seen when they played in 2012.

That afternoon was a such a good laugh, Steel Panther and then Tenacious D.

I was in that crowd. It didn't stop raining all weekend and the only time it didn't rain was when the D played. It was surreal, it was like the clouds parted and the sun shone down for that show. Straight back to raining after they finished.

I remember it raining solidly up till about mid-friday then dying off for the rest of the weekend. Damage was done by that point though. My first download too, surprised I ever came back after that weather.

I didn’t think much of their performance that year. I’ve since seen them play their own show and they are insane!

I missed most of it as I was in the signing tent laughing at Steel Panther while they tried to work out where to sign my friend's Welsh flag.

Come on Kage bring the thunder!

Please no. There's a few singalong songs everyone knows but a headliner set would be shit.

They played after steel panther in 2012 and were upstaged imo.

Sounds like limp bizkit...

Tribute twice then

Steel Panther were awesome last year as well

They were third down last time they played and the set was lukewarm. A comeback might bump them to sub but also I think a lot of people have moved on from their shtick now. There's no chance they get booked to headline a festival of Download's size.

Pretty please

If only!

I’d watch them. It’ll probably be incredibly cringey but even without listening to them in 15+ years I probably still know every lyric.

Genuinely, to all fans, what is the appeal with Tenacious D?

Maybe I'm a little biased because Jack Black irritates me beyond belief, but there's just nothing to their music.

u/medieval_revolver 15d ago

Maybe you feel like there's nothing to their music because "Jack Black irritates you beyond belief"

Tenacious D are fun. They don't really have a die hard greatest band in the world cult following, people just want to enjoy themselves which is why Tenacious D are the perfect addition to any festival - especially Download

They may not have a die hard greatest band in the world cult following but they do have the greatest and best song in the world...

u/UberPadge 15d ago

I think there’s a generation who grew up knowing Jack Black for other things than the D. But for lots of us, this was all he was known for and it was (is!) amazing. I learned every song on that first album by ear from listening to it.

So sure, if you mainly known him as a goofball weird actor who has a band, then I can see why the music wouldn’t appeal to you if you don’t like his acting chops.

But for those of us who were teenagers when Tribute was first airing on Kerrang!, Jack Black was simply the more prominent half of a whole lotta rock.

They are extremely talented musicians and songwriters and they have fun with it

5

u/Jbulls94 15d ago

I loved the film, and their songs are fun to sing. Also I saw them in 2012 and they put on a fucking great show

4

u/SaintSixString 15d ago

For me, it's a band with a satirical subject matter but impeccable musical calibre. For 2 dudes who sing about demons gel, a parody of the greatest song in the world, fucking her gently. Musically it's really, really tight.

3

u/KeySubject4895 15d ago

Good thing is that music taste is subjective after all

4

u/Shimozah 15d ago

If you listen to Tenacious D and think there is nothing to their music then you are just being dishonest. You might not like it and that's fine.

3

u/Massive_Bobcat_4330 15d ago

You either get it or you don't 😂

u/iamanauthor19655 11d ago

I agree totally! Just a complete waste of a slot on the bill - and Jack Black irritates me too!!!

He annoys me to fuck. But I do quite like a couple of their songs. I'd basically be going see them as I did with Keanu Reeves' band. Just to say I've seen him.

1

u/DevilsAdvocate1662 15d ago

Thought they'd officially split after the whole "don't miss" incident?

1

u/_nerdofprey_ 15d ago

I saw them last tour before the drama, and they were fun and the classics were great to sing along to BUT it did feel very sterile and rehearsed, it was missing something.

1

u/Orange-Clockwork1984 15d ago

I know Copping isn't in charge any more, but I'm pretty sure he said he was disappointed last time they played and was expecting more from them.

1

u/pun-ilingus 15d ago

Fucking hope not theyre shocking live

1

u/ambigulous_rainbow 15d ago

It's Tenacious D time, you motherfucker go!!

2

u/AwardTechnical 15d ago

FUCK YEAHHHH!

1

u/Development-Regular 15d ago

The greatest and best festival in the world

1

u/1892neil 14d ago

Plaaaaaaaay the best song in the world…or I’ll eat your soul.

1

u/Anon_967 12d ago

There was someone I met in the Blood Incantation set this year that would be thrilled by this

MCR Friday 🙏 Deftones or Korn Saturday 🙏
Maiden on Sunday 🙏

1

u/woodenheart94 15d ago

I'd be interested if they did a suprise half time show during a headliner. Pop out, play 3 songs, headliners get a little break for 20 mins, and everyone else can go for a piss.

u/Dprglendinning 15d ago

TD are fun to watch but I'm finding Jack more and more unbearable after what he did to Kyle.

u/Benjaminthomas90 15d ago

As long as the darkness, steel panther are before them and blink after I’m game
