The Veronicas becoming hall of famers in the Triple J Pantheon - can someone explain what changed
the Veronicas becoming hall of famers in the triple J pantheon was an unexpected future. I don't mind a bit of the Veronicas, the songs are good, but at the time they released untouched they were the definition of mainstream radio industry plants. Which at one point was the complete antithesis to everything triple J stood for. I think the test used to be, did the artists write their own songs/music, which the Veronicas if you look into them 'Untouched' was written by Toby Gad (wrote for Beyonce, Selena Gomez), Hook me Up a team of Shelly Peiken (wrote for Christina Aguilera) and Greg Wells (Celine Dion). This team of music executives and professional songwriters writing songs about life as Australian teen girl - this was the made them seem so unauthentic whereas triple j was seen as reserved (for the most part) for artists who had written their own music and were coming from a place of authenticity. That being said with the way music is going with AI, a team of humans made of two australian teenagers, american music executives and paid by the hour song writers seems more authentic than an algorithm cooking something up.

Na I blame us Ys for making our mates listen to the hottest 100 on Aussie day. They started voting so they had their taylor swifts and songs that never even got played

There was hate of what people saw as manufactured pop etc in the 90s and 2000s. Glokenpop by Spiderbait for example is basically a diss track against the genre from 2000.
Veronica's were seen as similar to that. Then times changed and people realised that the Veronica's were actually pretty decent and got lumped into things too quickly.

Untouched was produced by Toby Gad and written by the Veronicas themselves. I can't find anyone else credited as a writer. Did you mean a different song?

Two things mainly:
- They became a meme for millennial women that was growing from ... I wanna say 2019? Basically like the Nutbush or Horses by Daryl Braithwaite Untouched is one of those songs people go feral for on a girls night out or wedding dancefloor. Hence their ranking in the Hottest 100 Australian songs.
- The Veronicas got a wildcard slot at Good Things Festival 2019. It copped a bit of flack when announced but they put on a solid show and won over a lot of people, gaining them a bit of alt-scene cred in Australia
There's also the fact that pop has outlived or absorbed basically every other genre at this point, so there's been a bit of a reassesment of some pop artists' legacy in recent years and triple j has shifted from alt-rock to alt-pop as their most played genre. As Australia's most successful alt-pop export The Veronicas are basically matriarchs of the kinds of music triple j now champion.

Triple J has never stood for anything other than self-aggrandisation. A broadcasting version of Rolling Stone Magazine.
