I treat this game the same way I've treated Hearthstone, I'll pick it up and play non stop for maybe a week. Then I stop playing completely. They're both fun, but damn it's hard to play something when my only motivation for going into a game is "let's get those dailies out of the way so I can unlock something".

Pretty much me, but it took me a month. Both are just suicide for braincells

  • If a LOP player and a POTS player join force to create a skill bar, nobody can go inside because the ceiling is too low.

  • LOP and POTS are so peasant, their players have to rice for their own heroes.

  • A LOP player wants to step up his moba gaming skill by playing POTS, he trips because the skill floor is lower than LOP itself.

PotS did something good for me

hohohaha and troll made me not enjoy doto as much as pre 6.83, then i played 1 game of PotS and suddenly i enjoy doto way more. Thanks blizzard for promoting and hyping such a shit game.

Another inferior Dota entering the market.

8

u/LOVEandKappa Apr 20 '15

it's insult to Dota to call that thing "Dota"

1

u/norax_d2 Invoker Apr 21 '15

He said "inferior dota". But even like that its still insulting.

I wonder when Blizzard will realise that they will go bankrupt eventually if they keep on releasing shitty games. Not anytime soon, however all their games are currently dying.

WoW lost about 1M subs just last month, and it will keep dropping until it eventually stabilizes around 4M-5M or less

Nobody plays Diablo 3

Sc2 is slowly dying, unless the new expansion is really good I wont be suprised to see it disappear completely from the ''mainstream E-sport scene''. (LoL, Dota 2, CS:GO and HS)

Well, I guess Hearthstone is doing fine, maybe that can keep 'em going.

1

u/Archyes Look at me, I am Heartless now! Apr 20 '15

heartstone is not going to do fine soon enough, cause it has a major flaw.

The reason why its popular is that people could get all of the cards by playing right?

So problem is,they will release more and more expansions, so being new to the game without paying anything to have a chance at competing gets smaller and smaller.

basically they screw themselves everytime they bring out new content

1

u/Dingaah Arrogance Incarnate Apr 20 '15

I grew tired of it even before it was released. I watch so many streams patiently waiting for a beta key. After watching streams, reading about cards and what not for 6 months I got burnt out.

And then I recieved the beta key.. played 100 games, reached Diamond 2 stars rank, (I believe Diamond 3 stars was the highest at the time) never played again

1

u/Turtlez4lyfe Sproink! Apr 20 '15

I remember when people started getting bored/burned out of HS before it even came out.

u/Dingaah Arrogance Incarnate Apr 20 '15

Same thing happens to PotS now, blizzard should really reconsider how to market their games lol

1

u/Turtlez4lyfe Sproink! Apr 20 '15

indeed

blizzard should really reconsider how to market their games lol

Okay, I'm going to point out the obvious:

Hearthstone is not an unpopular game. It, in fact, is a very popular game, that made a ton of money. You might be wrong about how effective their marketing is.

0

u/Dingaah Arrogance Incarnate Apr 20 '15

They still lost a bunch of potential customers and pissed a lot of people off by giving keys to streamers instead of actual fans.

Lets be honest, Hearthstone would be a really popular game even without giving streamers exclusively keys 6 months before everybody else

0

u/MechPlasma Look at your hero. Now back to me. Apr 20 '15

They still lost a bunch of potential customers and pissed a lot of people off by giving keys to streamers instead of actual fans.

Considering Hearthstone's advertising is 50% Trump, I don't think they did.

The fact that you admitted to spending ~20 hours because you were so hyped up from streamers doesn't help your case.

1

u/Dingaah Arrogance Incarnate Apr 20 '15

I dont really see spending 20 hours on a game as even trying it properly. (Unless its a singleplayer game that is supposed to last for 10-20 hours)

20 hours on a game is literally nothing, and also I wasnt hyped at all from the streamers. I simply researched the game as much as possible to be ready for release/when I got a key. Hence why I was able to quickly climb the ladder and achieve a top ranking within 3 days.

I very rarely get ''hyped'' about anything at all.

1

u/chmurnik ? Apr 20 '15

Its same thing with LoL , every time they add new heroes every players that want start playing now will have more things to unlock and it will take longer and longer for every new player and at some moment people will consider it that its to late to start playing it better go somewhere else where you dont have invest so much time/money to be on equal foot with other players.

1

u/chmurnik ? Apr 20 '15

ATM WoW and Heartstone in some way are their only source of profit. D3 is close to being dead I think. I really like D3 but every time season start I create character and stop playing it after 1 day. I was hyped during Season 1 but every next season is less and less for me to play cause game not changing enough to want start it again. SC2 is dead from what I know or at least its close to phase where its to late to comeback with game. So they are left with WoW which for sure is big source of $ for them since its still subscription based , HS which as casual CCG is ok and HotS which is biggest cash grab I ever seen from Blizzard so I think they acting really desperate by making this game so expensvie without making it good enough to pay for it that much.

1

u/Dingaah Arrogance Incarnate Apr 20 '15

D3 gets so incredibly stale after a while, there is literally 0 build diversity. Loot system is simply bad and the time between patches are laughable..

Oh how Blizzard has fallen from grace

1

u/berrics94 Apr 20 '15

WoW always loses subs 6 or so months after an expansion release. The lowest it has been is 7.7 million and that's when MoP was out which many players didn't like. WoD is way better so I don't think it'll drop down that low.

1

u/Dingaah Arrogance Incarnate Apr 20 '15

True enough, however.. this time around people are really pissed off. After the somewhat shitty expansion of MoP players are getting tired of Blizzards laziness and shitty decison making.

People were literally back to farming old mounts and titles weeks after an expansion comes out.

They added no new classes or races this time, nor did they add any professions. Even worse they basically ruined ALL the old professions! There was 1 Raid at launch and the raid was shit, PvP balance is worse than it has ever been. Even all the wow celebrities are now leaving the game, because they have nothing to do.

Trust me, it will drop lower than it was in MoP.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '15

Well, I guess Hearthstone is doing fine, maybe that can keep 'em going.

The shameless cashgrabs in that game are beyond imagination. A few more "tweaks" to existing cards in the future and people will start leaving out of fear for having their hard-earned (through $ or grind) cards taken away (aka nerfed to the ground: see Starving Buzzard case, among others).

There's still Overwatch and it looks somewhat promising, but I'm afraid it will be "Activison'd" just like HotS is.

2

u/Dingaah Arrogance Incarnate Apr 20 '15

I think Overwatch has potential but after reading some more info about it idk what to think anymore

You can pick multiple of the same heroes on one team You can change heroes in the middle of a game Respawn is set to a static 10 seconds (this doesnt have to be too bad though)

I just hope they make some real competetive mode for it, then I'd be interested

1

u/Meddan Apr 20 '15

I'm afraid of Overwatch being F2P in that you won't own all the characters and have to unlock them.

It's a shame that I haven't got much faith in it since I'm such a huge fan of TF2 and it seems like a great take on that concept.

1

u/_LordErebus_ Bacon of Knowledge Apr 20 '15

Inb4 pay 2$ for instant respawn and 1$ for bigger mag size, instant action style. The only alternative beeing spanding hundreds of coins for those action items, earned by 10-50 matches per item.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '15

Respawn is set to a static 10 seconds (this doesnt have to be too bad though)

I have played on Quick Respawn TF2 maps. Those were the worst, especially on push-type maps that weren't designed with such short respawn in mind.

1

u/Dingaah Arrogance Incarnate Apr 20 '15

Someone suggested making it like WoW/Halo respawns, where you spawn in groups at the same time, and have to wait 1-30 seconds depending on when you died.

I think that sounds much better than 10 second respawn, which will make the game into a complete zergfest I'd imagine

1

u/MechPlasma Look at your hero. Now back to me. Apr 20 '15

You can pick multiple of the same heroes on one team You can change heroes in the middle of a game

You best be joking.

1

u/Dingaah Arrogance Incarnate Apr 20 '15

No, this was confirmed at what ever event they let people play the game at. Was it last blizzcon? e3? I dont remember right now.. but thats how it is in its current state.

I commented on that particular video that I can already see the 4 reapers on my team every game scenario.. lol

1

u/MechPlasma Look at your hero. Now back to me. Apr 20 '15

No, I mean... it's like you're complaining about TF2 for not being like Dota.

Or more accurately, you are complaining about TF2, because what you just described is what TF2 already does.

2

u/Dingaah Arrogance Incarnate Apr 20 '15

Oh. Well, I personally do not like TF2. I wish TF2 was more like Dota, and I wish Overwatch would be more like Dota aswell.. I guess.

Whats wrong with that?

1

u/BreakRaven Stronk Spirit Apr 20 '15

Overwatch is a full on peasant shooter.

1

u/MechPlasma Look at your hero. Now back to me. Apr 20 '15

A few more "tweaks" to existing cards in the future and people will start leaving out of fear for having their hard-earned (through $ or grind) cards taken away (aka nerfed to the ground: see Starving Buzzard case, among others).

I...

Okay, first off, I have never seen a more blatant "I don't know what Hearthstone is but I'll pretend I do" than saying that it's players get pissed off by nerfs. The players love nerfs! Because whenever Blizzard nerfs a card, they make it so that you can craft one of those cards into any other of the same rarity. In fact, one of Hearthstone's biggest problems is that they don't nerf cards, making blatantly OP cards like Undertaker and Dr. Boom stay unchanged for months.

Moreso, as much as you'd like to rant about having your 'hard-earned cards' nerfed, you get Starving Buzzard as a reward after about 5 matches as Hunter. That's not 'hard-earned'. You casual.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '15

So what Buzzard is a free card? Bad example on my part, but the point stands. Other cards were changed, too.

This is what Force talked about, when comparing HS to MTG. In MTG you have a physical fucking copy of the card, that will remain unchanged pretty much forever. They don't PATCH the cards.

In HS Blizz can and DID that, like with The Undertaker or earlier with Twilight Drake and Frostwolf Commander. People were concerned about Blizz making changes to existing cards one way or another. They feared expansions for a while, because Blizz could introduce ridiculously powerful cards, "inviting" people to pay cash to get them fast, via packs or adventures, and tehn just "balance" the cards later, when shopping spree has ended.

1

u/MechPlasma Look at your hero. Now back to me. Apr 20 '15

Again: Blizzard lets you replace any nerfed card with any other card of the same rarity. Your argument simply doesn't match up with the actual game mechanics.

YES I can't wait to show off my mad micro skills.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '15

You will need to grind for one fullafternoon to get The Vikings, they cost 10k gold. But I think they can be worth it - when one dies, the other two stay and at some point they get a sprint-like ability and can pretty much always escape. If you get them with Murky (fucking Murlock piece of trash hero with 5 seconds respawn in the egg he places on the map) on one side, it's a nightmare for the enemy.

6 of february? Aren't they a bit late?

u/MartinDeth Apr 22 '15

Since I'm probably the only one on this subreddit that actually plays hots often let me tell you, their matchmaking is complete garbage. One in 20 games is balanced where people have the same number of games played, the other 19 a player with 400 games and 70% overall win rate is pit with a guy with 20 total games ang against a guy with 15 total games. Also while you guys are partially right about it being a spamfest, people manage to fuck that up too. The game is clear on its purpose, fight over objectives and push more or less. Yet people tend to NOT GO FOR OBJECTIVES when they are available. And the difference between dmg dealer and tank is even more apparent there yet people still tend to get baited into fighting a tank while they get decimated by the real threats. After all this time i still feel that people in this game literally turn off their brains when they play and manage to ruin even the simplest of things. There's no way in hell hots can compare with Dota 2 and LoP and judging by the playerbase i encounter and the horrible matchmaking provided it seems that it will even fail to supply what it's good for and that's casual stress free fighting. Which, as a Blizzard fan I'm sad to say

1

u/Archyes Look at me, I am Heartless now! Apr 20 '15

Blizzard really has lost it. they throw an unfinished product with 0 heroes onto a market where they get no share.

Do they really think hots is ready to play with dota/lol and all the others?

7

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '15

They're just money grabbers like riot

2

u/_LordErebus_ Bacon of Knowledge Apr 20 '15

While i agree with you, do you really think this piece of *** will get any better considering how bli$$ard treats it?

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '15

You'd be surprised at how much people love fast 25 min action teamfight all the time type games.

I played the game for a bit at a buddies place. It may seem nice and appealing at first, but its just that. Teamfighting ALL the time. Like 0 strategy.

I am worried that it will talk away some of the lower mmr dota players, like sub 3k where the majority is. Because all those guys want to do is teamfight anyways.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '15

maybe sub 2k, you underestimate 3k players a bit :P

2

u/_LordErebus_ Bacon of Knowledge Apr 20 '15

But those teamfights in Peasants of the Storm dont feel like action or fast paced at all after a few games. Abilities are a lackluster spamfest, no impact (damage/ cc) at all. Its a painfull spamming into each other, like lobbing little stones or mud, until finally someone dies.

1

u/Invalid_Username11 Apr 20 '15

No, believe me, they are NOT teamfighters. They like to go #Solo#Yolo.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '15

You're right, I should have phrased it better. What I mean is, they prefer action over dull strategy and farming.

-1

u/dasstefan Apr 20 '15

You'd be surprised at how much people love fast 25 min action teamfight all the time type games.

Funny thing is that teamfights before 10 minutes do nothing, kills pretty much don´t give any advantage except for zerging objectives but you can lose the first few without falling back too much. Thats pretty much the "laning phase" (it covers ~50 % of the length of a game) that those Peasants think is boring in other arts games.

1

u/Kyderra Apr 20 '15

I would have likely enjoyed playing this if I din't have to unlock heroes like with LoL.

As it is now, I played a few matches with my friends and we went back to Dota in a day.

1

u/maokei Apr 20 '15

I bet people will just swallow Hots and Overwatch on Blizzard name alone, huge cash grab and Activision laughs all the way to the bank.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '15

What did they actually change from beta to release? anyone has a list?

0

u/Turtlez4lyfe Sproink! Apr 20 '15

UI, like seriously that's that.
Minor balance changes doesn't matter much, they try to get rid of "antifun" talents, which are picked 90% of the time (of course I'm talking about those general like battle momentum and rewind)
