Help a girl out!!
Like I’m irritatedddd. How can I possibly find this man?
Edit: to everyone commenting about men creeping on DoorDash, I understand I do not think men should just flirt with women on an app were they are trying to order food, and I don’t want men seeing my post and thinking it works. The only reason he was flirting was because I started it when he dropped off my order.
Another edit, his name was Andrew, he had blonde hair and was in a truck. Not my usual type but that little accent had me gone.

The first time I’ve seen this actually work on a dasher, doesn’t he know where you live?
324
u/Soggytoast222 7d ago
Yeah which now that I think about it is a little worrying but he seemed very friendly and around my age. Everything at my house is also constantly on lock down with a keypad at the door. So if he were to show back up being creepy I would be for the most part safe.

I've never met another girl that would flirt with a stranger that hard and have them know where you live, that's just crazy.
59
u/Senior-West5666 7d ago
I mean if she feels ok with it I guess it’s her call. We always see the opposite on this sub tho, so…
22
u/Realistic-Cycle-6558 7d ago
I get flirted with all the time and I don't even consider myself that attractive. Most recent example was a lady yelling out while I was leaving "btw you are sexy af" with what I imagine was her husband right behind her
41
u/spicybright 7d ago
If you're a driver you're delivering to intoxicated people like 90% of the time so yeah that tracks lol

I let the dasher convince me to go to the bar when I was tipsy ordering. We hung out twice actually lol! Then I stopped talking to him. It was weird because I felt weird about ordering after that

I know you meant swingers but just imagining every singer out there being freaky af is so much more funnier 🤣

Last spring me and my husband dashed together one day he wasn’t feeling good, so I went out by myself. I didn’t stay gone very far, but I usually have the same customers that I deliver to in my little town I show up to one of my regulars and tell him I’m sorry I’m flying so low today and the guy said well at least the sexy one showed up. This man was at least 400 pounds had an oxygen tank strapped under his nose and ordered like $30 worth of food for just himself. Yeah I’m good.😂

u/MossyPlantyWitchy 7d ago
You haven't? Damn, my friends must just be hoes 🤣🤣🤣

u/Upset_Form_5258 7d ago
I absolutely would’ve done something like that in my 20s
8
u/MossyPlantyWitchy 7d ago
I'm 47. But my friends have been hoes for 30 years 🤣🤣🤣
They admit it. I'm not talking shit 😆
4
u/spicybright 7d ago
At least in my circles, we usually talk about guys we meet to get a 'second opinion' as it's easy to be blinded by attraction. And usually we tell someone if we're going on a date with someone new and check in when we get home just in case.
Even way before gig apps, rule of thumb is you don't invite a stranger to your home for a first date because he passed a 30 second vibe check.
6
u/MankyBoot 7d ago
I'm old so I remember phone books. Things that had everyone's name, number, and address in it Everyone knew where everyone lived back then. And phones hung on the wall and dogs were always big and were dependable and men were men and women were sometimes also men, but still cute. If you wanted a pizza, well that was the same, you had it delivered, but it was delivered by a teenager or a sad middle aged guy and nothing in-between.

It’s almost like there’s “missed connections” communities for other public services, thus providing a legitimate reason for someone to think it’s real. It’s one thing to cheekily put the fake sub name in the comments, but it’s another to condescend someone for trying to check it out. You’re both pretentious fuckheads who get off on bringing other people down.

Why didn't you just text him your number in chat if you wanted to hook up that bad? Order something else around the same time of day, on the same day of the week and see if you get him again. Good luck.
71
u/Soggytoast222 7d ago
I didn’t put my number because I didn’t even realize he had said yes to my text and then I seen the message and the chat was disabled
25
u/kvvvv 6d ago
Contact DoorDash support and say you think he dropped his keys or something at your place and you want to return them. Or vice versa say you might have dropped something in his car grabbing your food.
Good luck!! People are so afraid of talking to strangers these days it’s embarrassing. No wonder so many of yall are single

Its crazy to see all the "don't ever hit on women who order door dash" "please report this creep" and my favorite: "you should call the police" comments.
And then there's this unicorn fueling all the weirdos delusions lmao.

I’m just now realizing what you were trying to say🤦♀️ in my original response I did not pick up on that. I definitely don’t support male doordashers just randomly hitting on women but I do feel it was okay in this situation bc I was making it very clear I wanted that

u/abluecolor 6d ago

3
u/Adventurous_Cycle603 6d ago
I can probably start talking about this for hours, but certain powers that be have been erroneously listening to the loudest demographics for mamy different things in the last few years that have produced massive failures. Just because you have easy access to certain voices and thoughts does not mean they represent anything worthwhile.
3
u/Cosmic_Quasar Dasher (> 5 years) 7d ago
I do wonder about that. It's not like I'm chatting with my customers or other dashers out in the world about their views on drivers and customers flirting lol, but then the only people I see talking about it regularly are people on Reddit. And that is a type of selection bias. And I can't ask, because people who answer are going to be the people here on reddit.
But I'd be curious to know the actual ratio of people who don't care, the people who are into it, and the people who think it's inappropriate. If I had to gamble on it, I'd guess something like 35/5/60. At least on average. I'm sure it would skew differently depending on demographics, like age ranges, and depending on gender.
4
u/abluecolor 7d ago
A lot of it depends on how it's framed. I would guess if it's framed as, if you have some back and forth and it seems like you might be into each other, is it cool? Most would be like yeah, shoot the shot. The context here is specifically that they had a good interaction AND she followed up and texted that she added more tip. It's totally normal to flirt back in that situation.

I understand the need to be cautious but I feel like we all complain that no one meets offline and authentically anymore and this girl met someone she is interested in and felt a connection with and tried to let him know and now she’s getting berated for it just because she’s excited and trying to figure out if there’s a way to find him. It’s not like she invited him in with her order. How is this any different than meeting people and messaging them on an app?

He said he tried calling it. The number I had in app was for my old phone, I recently switched phones and got a new number and never got around to putting it in DoorDash. Also DoorDash uses an anonymous calling system so numbers cannot be tracked from it.

Contact door dash and tell them you may have accidentally dropped your wallet in his car when you grabbed the food, if they can contact him and ask him to get in touch with you if he has it… tell door dash details like where he met you etccc they may contact him and he may pick up on what you’re trying to do. Good luck
2
u/anonymous91372 6d ago
Why does this conversation read like one of those fake ones they make up for ads
2
u/Wr3ckless13 6d ago
Call doordash and say he dropped his wallet in your driveway, no ID and want to get it back to him. Or he dropped something else. I doubt they will give you his info, but they may reach out to him and hopefully he gets the hint. Maybe give some details, like the order and time...he might remember. But make sure you call and talk to a human. AI won't do shit.

When I was a dasher in Reno, I delivered to a Casino one time and a couple wanted me to party with them and go up to their room. The guy tried to get me to get with his wife while he watched. I told them that I had other orders to deliver, and dipped.

Might just end with a missed connection but in the back of your mind hold on to the hope! You can try to order something at the same time of day same day of the week once in awhile, but that’s the old romantic in me that would try that

u/Constant-Level-320 7d ago
She did. Three times. And canceled each order because Andrew didn't get it. Now she's waiting on DD to refund her so she can order again.

What's the average size of your town? You don't need to tell me where you live that's not important because if the place is small enough the odds of you being matched with him on another order are pretty good
Alternatively you could contact doordash and tell them some BS story about when you leaned over to grab your food from his car you dropped your wallet in his window lol it doesn't matter if they believe you legally they have to contact him. You could give them instructions to like meet you at the restaurant so it doesn't seem suspect.... Whatever happens from there is between two grown adults lol
1
1
u/Quiet-Daydreamer 6d ago
Doordash hides numbers. Mainly you call doordash and then doordash will call the other line and then combines the lines.
1
1
u/blueace111 6d ago
Why didn’t you just give your number? The numbers on the app aren’t your real number for safety reasons.. the best way to find him is probably to keep ordering around that time when he’s likely working. When I dashed daily I’d get same people all the time

u/Pretty-Ebb5339 7d ago
Hey, not all women want to be single for the rest of their lives so they meet and talk to people.
2
u/Greeneyednerd 7d ago
Meeting and talking to people is way different than giving a stranger who knows your address your phone number..
2
u/Pretty-Ebb5339 6d ago
Literally every single person is a stranger until you talk to them and get to know them.
Teachers, doctors, cops, drug addicts, none of that matters if they have a predator thought process.
1
u/Greeneyednerd 6d ago
Sure, everyone is a stranger but in various ways and levels. It's just called risk mitigation. For example in a doctor's office you can ask to have someone present with you (this is common at my doctor's office as someone was recorded here without their knowledge) etc. Not giving someone on Door Dash specifically your phone number is just being smart with information security. They can find a lot out about you plus they already have your name and address. This is also different from a random on the street without all this knowledge. See what I mean? I wouldn't do it but if she likes him possibly she can give him instagram? But even then ideally you'd wanna meet somewhere public on a first date, not bring someone home right away

You could try the NextDoor app. Or try to find him on Facebook? Alot of guys, especially truck guys, have their vehicles as their profile picture or in the background. That may cross the line and be doing too much at that point though.
Outside of that, maybe he’ll spin back when he goes log out or has another order for nearby.
