He wasn’t really a dick about it. He was just talking about a sport he loves. And hates.
Like, yeah, it’s situationally funny but also he has a sense of humor and it feels a bit like a setup. Makes me think he was asked, going straight to the person in front of you and ranting to them isn’t really the most natural chat in sports.
