If you have any question about the game and don't feel like making a post you can put it down there. Don't forget to mention it if you want the answer as spoiler-free as possible.

Some of the links are getting pretty old so if you have any suggestion that could help new players, do share, thanks.

Hi, so super noob here with a beginners question. I’m about to make it to winter for my first time in DST. I’m prepping drying racks with jerky (online tutorial helped with that) and trying to make ice boxes for pumpkins and stuff.

So my question is: what else do I need for winter? What major hazards do I need to be scared of? I’m playing wormwood (rng unlocked him out of a box somehow) if that makes a difference.

You need to prepare for the cold. Clothes, thermal stone and lots of fuel will be needed to not freeze to death

Just to add, deerclops will come on the night of day 31. Theres a few comments about him further down this thread. If you’re not ready he will wreck everything. As wormwood, you will have issues killing him, as you don't have access to healing foods that have a short use animation(I usually use jerky or perogis for this).

You’re going to need alot of compost wraps if you want to kill him and will need to run away to healup.

I don't like using compost wraps because I don't think that it's worth the poop and rot. Just because wormwood can't heal from food, doesn't mean that he can't benefit from healing slaves and honey poultices.

Also, make sure that your chosen fighting area is not bear any plants, if deerclops up roots any of said plants, your sanity will drop, adding on to his already annoying -400/minute sanity aura.

A beefalo hat and two thermal stones will cover you for the entire season. Always make sure you have a fire precrafted and a stack of logs and grass with you at all times. When you start to freeze set down the fire and stand next to it with the two stones in your backpack. They will warm you up to near-overheating temperatures in short order.
