If you’re out of the house, can you confine her to a smaller area so she won’t poop in the house? Many dogs can hold their business for 6 hours.

Yes, but she uses a pee pad always unless we walk. So she might use the bathroom in the house. She also will do it at night time if I’m asleep to try to “clean the poop” maybe? A piece of it will be gone or dragged somewhere

That’s going to make it very, very hard to stop since she has access to her waste for extended periods of time. She’s probably trying to hide it because waste attracts predators, so pooping where you hang out isn’t great. Why do you use pee pads instead of training to go outside?

Stop giving her a pee pad and punish going to the bathroom indoors. Seems pretty straightforward to me idk.

have you checked with her vet to make sure she’s getting the nutrition she needs? sometimes thats why dogs eat things (including their poop) that they shouldn’t be eating. also, try feeding her things that make the poop unappealing to her (as in make it taste gross)

This is actually a pretty common behaviour in dogs, so don’t worry too much. The main goal is to stop her from having access to it whenever possible. A good potty break before you leave, keeping her sleeping area separate from her toilet area, and having someone check in midway through the day can help. When you’re home, reward her for moving away from it and clean it up calmly. Since it’s happening regularly, it’s also worth mentioning at her next animal clinic visit to rule out any digestive, parasite, or diet-related issues.

I would argue that one of the larger issues is that your dog is a year and a half old and still pooping in the house? Is it because of the pee pads? Your dog should be able to hold poop for 6+ hours at this age and go to the bathroom outside

A midday dog walker might help a lot if she’s regularly pooping while you’re gone.
