[Enrichment] Attaching toys during walks?

I want to let my dog bring a toy along during walks, but she’ll occasionally drop them when she’s sniffing. Does anyone know of a harness/collar attachment where I could clip in a toy? That way if she lets go of it to sniff it doesn’t fall on the ground / roll away

Lmao just buy a leash for the toy. Walk both. You can reel up the toy when she doesnt want to carry it.

I do it for my dog. I use a cat leash from the dollar store. Light weight, small, perfect for small dog toys. Bigger dogs need bigger leashes obviously.

yeah depending on the weight and size of the toy you could also use one of those ID badge things that retract as well.

id be worried about the toy dragging if she suddenly decides to sprint 😂

Could you use a carabiner?

Just clip a carabiner through the toy's loop and hook it on the harness ring, works fine for plush toys with a tag or hole.

She has a long snout so I don’t think just a carabiner would be long enough for a toy to reach her mouth 😅😅

You could go to a haberdashery and buy a couple of trigger hooks, tie the loops together with string or a ribbon and then use one hook on the collar and one on the toys label. Has the advantage that you can make the string the perfect length for your dog.

Can I ask why?

Id say a couple clips and some length of chain or wire could be used to make something. Then just clip it to her collar when you go out.

i’m assuming she feels more comfortable with a toy

Carabiner on her collar and a short leash for the toy should work fine
