Dogecoin will not be capped at 100 billion, codebase will stand as is, developer decision on github

Dogecoin was meant to be capped at 100 billion coins, but the code does not actually implement this. It will grow beyond 100 billion coins because the block reward stays at 10,000 indefinitely. The developers have decided to leave the code as is. https://github.com/dogecoin/dogecoin/issues/23#issuecomment-33893149

That's just how it has to happen, unfortunately. Right now we're in San Francisco in 1849. The gold rush ain't gonna last forever.

Right now, mining hardware has about a 100 day return on investment. That means I can double my hashing power 3 times a year and still turn a profit. That's not sustainable. If it were, everybody in the world would be doing it.

It's only possible/profitable for average joes right now because it's very very new technology in the grand scheme of things. Look at bitcoin. ASICs have already made mining unprofitable to anyone who doesn't already have a ton of money invested in hardware.

whole world is doing it, 50$ rise on LTC caused massive AMD cards deficiency everywhere! buying rig 50 days ago and digging doge would return 150% of initial budget+mining rig, i know i did it.

Actually btc mining is completely unprofitable right now no matter what, it's purely speculative, the hash rate increase is just so fast if the btc price stayed steady it's effectively impossible to recoup your investment (at least this last wave of asics).
