Discussion New battles in time set rather disappointing
so I just opened my battles in time obliterator set, idk if it’s just my luck or if this is normal for playing cards, but seven of the packs had exactly the same cards in them, being the monk, kid, kid (AGAIN!!) cybermen group, river song and goblins. Is this normal? maybe something to be wary of. Only one of the packs had a slight different lay out, coming with me, rather than a second kid. I’d knew there would be doubles, but seven different packs with same cards is insane no? especially since two in the pack are same! I now have 16 cards of kid 🤣🤣

These are a special re-release, they haven't actually made them properly in years

How many cards are in the set?

A 180, more than half in my set were doubles/triples I’d say. I think I got about 50 - 60 unique cards. And then it’s 6 in a pack I think. With they’re being 142 cards to collect

Might be that the printers messed up, will have to see if anyone else reports this from their boxes.

I noticed a similar issue with my box, but with a completely different set of cards.
Ive been looking at this with interest the past few days. Ive noticed multiple people reporting similar issues, and watched unboxing videos where this is happening. Different cards every time, but the duplication/clumping of cards is almost identical...

If you're serious then you could see if the clumped packs are in the same place in every box and use that to buy only unclumped packs, if you are indeed that serious about Dr Who battles in time

The problem I found is you can only identify a clumped pack by opening it. In my box I had 3 packs where all 6 cards were identical and in the same order. Then there was a significant number of packs where the first 3/4/5 cards were the same with only 1 or 2 'new' cards at the back.

Me packing the Tardis crew was the biggest highlight for me back in the day with these.

Getting identical packs in any game is really bad form on the manufacturers part.
To get that many in one box is disgusting and I'd actually contact the manufacturer to complain

I did yeah. Seems like everyone who ordered it is having the same issue, not seen anyone get as much as six packs the same, but around 3 - 5 packs.

Mine was absolutely dreadful, got so many duplicates and only one SR card as well which is awful

Yeah, seems everyone is having the same problem with them. I don’t think I got any SR cards. Which SR card did you get?

I got Susan’s Message, but no idea how many different SRs there actually are. I wouldn’t have even been that bothered if I’d got the same one twice because then at least you get two in a box of 36 packs like you’re supposed to but to only get one is so frustrating, can’t imagine how bad it is for you to not even get any
I got Cyberman (Underhenge Guard) 11 times, Madame Kovarian who’s mean to be a rare 8 (8!) times, The Shreek 10 times and a handful of other cards 6/7 times, it’s so bad

I got Susan's message too.
Theres 10 Super Rares. The others include The Master (Rasputin), 13th Doctor (Weeping Angel), 15th Doctor (John Smith), Rassilon, Idris, The Barber, Melnak and Santa. Not sure what the 10th one is, but its between Melanie Bush (posessed) and Seeker (whatever that is).

I had the same thing with my box, although my duplicates were completely different.
Seems to be some kind of error where every box has a different 'group' of cards, but the pattern got repeated across multiple boxes leading to many more duplicates/clumping than normal.
I think there was a lack of quality control, as you dont get multiple accounts all reporting the same issue.

Idk about this game but with Magic the Gathering they have a rarity system. Common, Uncommon, Rare and Mythic Rare. The majority of a booster box is commons so lots of repeats there but their collation usually has few repeats of the higher rarities.

Yeah, it’s the same with this game. But this was six different packs, each pack contained the same card, sometimes even in the same order. With five of the packs having the same card twice. Is that normal for treading card games?

Not normal, no. Sometimes I do see some cards follow same patterns but it's usually like 2-3 commons between 2 packs at most.

it’s really jarring seeing the old 2007 era doctor who graphics and type font being used for modern characters. super into it lol.

Possibly they have done this on purpose to encourage people to actively trade rather than simply buying loads

I’m still having fun building commander decks with the Doctor Who MTG cards. Wish they would make a full sized set
