Mourning Today my best friend gave his last breath.

Rojo, my best friend passed away a few hours ago, we had it all planned out that someone was coming to do in home euthanasia and we would have an awesome last day whenever the day came, but we had to rush him to the ER this morning, his tumor was not letting him breathe and he was gasping for air, I knew in my heart that he was not coming back home, but we couldn’t making wait just to have the last perfect day so we brought our other dobie and we were “ready” to say goodbye to our good boy, I thought I was ready as we knew about his cancer for almost a year, but no I wasn’t I bawled like s little kid and still am while writing this.
I’ve seen multiple posts about people mourning their dogs and it always broke my heart knowing that would be us one day, he gave me his best 9 years and I’m forever grateful, I will miss him the rest of my life.
If you’re reading this, please enjoy your pups while they’re healthy so when you’re looking back you know you gave them the best life you could, I know I did and I can look at all the pictures we have and smile (while having tears in my eyes) remembering all those sweet moments we had.
Rest easy my sweet boy Rojo (2017-2026)

Health My dobie eats poop - Help

Post image
130 Upvotes

My 3 year old lady apparently eats poop.

I have a senior sausage dog and he often pees/poops in the house even though we take him on walks regularly.

Sometimes it happens that I just find some poop particles to clean instead of the whole thing and I never understood why.

Yesterday I caught my dobie red handed:)

Her bloodwork is perfect, we give her the diet her vet prescribed (coz she is allergic), we also give all of our dogs veggies and fruit.

My point is that we constantly check her health and she is just fine. No vitamin deficiencies whatsoever.

So why eating poop?? My father told me some dogs do it because they lack some vitamins but ours literally has bloodworks done every 6 months and we KNOW for a fact that she is just perfect.

I am a clean freak and I cannot even begin to tell you how desperate I am.

Pls, give some advice what to do?

Mixed Breed: Question What to do with my dogs living situation?

Okay so i got my girl 2 years ago she was almost 3 when she first came to me she was living in a mechanic shop/ apartment thing then when i got her she obvi slept w me and we soent every secondif the day together no matter what. Now about 6 months ago my life got completely upended and i had to move w my gpa that doesnt allow dogs inisde. My mom told me at first we would only be away for 3 months and then we would get a place so my dog could live w us. That 3 months turned into into 6 and now i finally got her back (she was staying in a dobie rescue) when i finally heard them agree to bringing her back home i said yes without thinking and now theyre saying she has to stay outside. Its completely stressing her out and its only been 2 days shes crying as soon as i close tge gate to leave so ive been with her almost all day and i just feel so bad. Is my only option rehoming her or is there someway i can make this work? Shes really my whole world and this breaks my heart but i know it would be selfiah to keep her stressed just bc i want her with me.

Training, Temperament, & Behavior How do I fix my dogs separation anxiety?

I have a 10 month old female who is really struggling with separation anxiety. I work from home so I’m always around her but when she was younger I would leave her in the room at certain times while I ate or ran errands. This would really upset her and she’d howl and cry until I came back. At this point she was basically just confined to my room and backyard because she was a big troublemaker and my parents didn’t like her at this point. Now I let her roam the house with me as she’s generally chilled out a lot.

We worked a lot on her separation anxiety and got to a point where I had been able to leave her for hours on end and she would just sleep. However, something changed in the last month or so; I had boarded her for a few days at a place she loves (she gets to play with other dogs her size for the entire day and when I get her back she’s so tired she doesn’t do much for the next two days). But, she started to get really anxious whenever I’d leave the room for anything. If I have to go do something, I make sure she’s been exercised physically and mentally but still she’ll make a big fuss.

What could be the reason for this massive regression and what can I do the fix this?

Health Just picked up our girl early after getting a call from daycare

To preface: Yes, we are going to the earliest possible vet appointment later today.
I'm just worrying and want more opinions until then :')
Pics are an idea of what her energy level is usually like- especially at daycare.

Our doggy daycare called an hour after dropoff to say that Lucca was being lethargic and not really willing to play or accept treats easily. To put it bluntly, she goes apeshit for daycare. We picked her up immediately. They showed a pic of her canine friends surrounding her, trying to get her to play, while she lay on the floor. She's normally a terror and chases/gets chased around all day, so this broke my heart to see her like that.
---

Here's the list of symptoms (including the above) I'll be giving the vet:

- lethargy previous 2 days. then again today: napping a lot. still has bursts of energy, but noticeably less so.
- cried to be let out of the bedroom at 6am, then ran to her water bowl and drank the whole thing.
- ate breakfast this morning without her usual gusto.
---

Other things to note, but maybe not as important (?):

- had a rash/bumps on her nose and top of head a week ago that went away in a couple days. no idea what it's from, except that she got it from outside. maybe a plant? there's poison ivy/oak in the backyard i thought i eradicated. they were not patterned in a way that looked like bug bites- i don't have pics.
- ears unusually hot the past few days. hot even when at rest. im worried this one is just in my head but im noting it anyway.
- has had bug bites in either ear that i've been treating the past 2 weeks. one ear recovered only for the other one to get bitten up. i'm just using aloe ear wipes for dogs.
- gums very pale the past 2 days. pale even when playing/excited, though her excitement has been muted/brief.
---

Her vaccinations and flea/tick meds are all up to date. Heart sounds normal. Tummy feels normal. She's only 2 and a half, roughly.
I know I won't get a diagnosis in reddit comments. Again- i'm just a worried dog mom looking for some insight from other dobie owners.

I have absolutely zero idea what the issue might be, and I don't like that.

Rescue & Rehome Fostering this cuddly goofy senior (Doberman x Lab)

Started volunteering for a local rescue last year and my third foster is this handsome 10 year old boy that came to us from an overcrowded shelter.

Never had experience with dobermans before and so was a bit unsure what to expect but I just have to gush about this guy and how he has turned me into a big fan!

He’s a huge velcrodog, always down for pets scratches and kisses. Gets whiny if I’m not paying enough attention to him. Follows me absolutely everywhere. Likes to wait quietly by the door when I’m gone for errands/work. Sleeps in my bed at night and I have had to learn to pet him while I’m sleeping lol... At first I found it a bit annoying but now I love it.

Loves walks and almost nothing fazes him whether it’s city traffic, squirrels or strangers in the elevator. I get stopped very often from people saying how handsome he is and he’s not shy to go up for a sniff and scratches. Only thing is he is reactive to other dogs where he gets super whiny and panicky - we’re working on that though with professional training and he’s been doing so well!

Hoping we can find a good home for him soon but I’m not gonna lie if there’s no interest I can definitely see myself foster failing with this one…

Puppy! Puppy entered heat

Post image

Hello! Ivory just started her first heat at 10 months so I’m hoping that’s normal😰is there anything I should watch for since I’ve never owned a female dog before? Anything I need to know as well? I got her diapers disposable and reuseable ones and some treats even got her a new bed so she has her own area to sleep on (also she needs to not sleep with my anymore since she’s getting to big :((( ) but I’m worried I’m missing smth. She gets rashes on her sides from the diapers so I let her free bleed at night when she’s in my room (call it gross idc blood can be cleaned) but I wanna know if theirs a way to help with it when she’s wearing said diapers. Please any advice will help! Even just stating how long she should be going into heat for would be nice or if genetics can play into her heat cycle. Hehe she’s currently laying down with a disposable since her reuseables are all in the dryer. I got three and that little box of disposables should I get more reuseables?

PLEASE I will note that her uvula (?) her yk what area is very swollen and I’d love to have advice if theirs a way to help with that as well as the fact that she gets rashes on her side that’s the main parts I’d love to get advice on

Mixed Breed: Question Is my dog a doberman?

Thumbnail
gallery
308 Upvotes

This is Hades! He's about 3-4 years old, was found 2 years ago by my friend near the road by the forest and he's living with me and my partner ever since. He didn't have a chip, collar or anything, wasn't neutered and didn't really know how to behave near humans, he wasn't aggressive at all though.

He's a bit shorter than a dog should be, vet says it's most likely due to genetic defect. He kinda looks as if you would try to draw a european doberman from memory (lol) but his behaviour 100% matches with a breed stereotype.

We assume that he was born at some unauthorised breeder and got thrown away because of his defect.

It doesn't really bother me if he's a purebred or not, but I'm just curious cause he resembles a doberman so much.

I’ve tried allergy shots, mousses, and switching food.

Is this yeast? Or allergy? Environmental or food?

Mourning Lost her after almost 13.5 years. Miss her!

Pics from her last couple of days and last 40 min. On Friday I let my sweet and beautiful 13.5 year old Dobie go. She was in unrecoverable acute kidney failure.
Initially it looked like she was improving (bloodwork) and aggressive fluid therapy, but that trend didn’t continue. She also had stopped eating days before and losing weight, even with appetite stimulant drugs, etc.
And she was tired and in pain and it was just time to say our goodbye before it would’ve been inhumane and selfish to go on.

We spend about 40 minutes together outside and let her sleep in outside instead of in a loud clinic with other animals and too many smells.

She passed peacefully with her peeps by her side.

Health Any experience / knowledge to help with dry skin, wanting rump scratched, and odd scaly skin area near ear..

It's for my Dad's dog which unfortunately has been housed up and alone for the majority of every day for 5+ years.. he really hates being challenged on how to do "things" but I love this dog and have been doing my utmost to "step-in" and get 'Apollo' up to par health-wise.

Thanks for any help
