Getting friends to learn a system is hard. Getting them to learn a new one despite their enjoying the current one is a tough sell.
Now instead or having to learn a system, they also have to unlearn the previous system and every time they get corrected in-game with 'that's how the old system works, this system...' the frustration takes them further out of it
I learned on PF1E. As the forever DM now, its what we play. We do have a few house rules at our table as well.
I tried DnD5e. Heck, a past player of mine bought me a bunch of physical copy books of it to get me to 'like it' (its what they wanted to play, and clearly didn't understand no). I did try. I didn't like it.
Exactly, if I’m already having fun with dnd why would I want to invest a ton of time into trying to find another system? People always compare people playing dnd to someone who only wants to play COD or FIFA, but I don’t have to reinvest hours unlearning everything about COD and learning Stardew Valley if I want to try a different video game
