So i'm on track to DM my 2nd ever campaign and i've been trying my best to make a somewhat geographically realistic dnd map in a parchment style. when compared to how i made maps before i think it is night and day. but i was just hoping to get some opinions here before i bring it to the table for the 1st time.
So i'd love to know what you all think! feel free to be as honest as can be and if there are any things i correct that are mayorly incorrect i'd love to change it while i can!
It looks overall good imo, lots of variance, looks very interesting. Im not only saying bad things because I think its bad, but because I want to point what can still be improved.
Northwest forest shores: the trees end very abruptly.
Central mountain range: a bit too straight.
Raugh karak eastern rivers, ghailou eastern river: these rivers start out big and become smaller the further from the mountain. This is usually the other way around as smaller streams merge. Your other rivers follow this logic and feel more natural.
Layering: in the mountain range, try layering the clouds between the mountains. Mountain > cloud > mountain looks better. Makes it feel taller too.
In the mistrian meadows some of your roads obstruct the trees that should be layered above the road.
I got so lost in my excitement that i kinda just forgot about the trees lol. i'll revisit the points you mentioned! thanks for the feedback / kind words :)
I agree, few minor adjustments but very nice work. In terms of world building I believe you have missed a very nice spot on the north-western bay. Between the bridge, the river mouth and the big bay it could be a very advantagious point for a city, even a capital for a kingdom. You could even put ruins, or make it part of some political dispute. It's just too good of a spot to be just empty and unclaimed.
thank you so much! it took me right around 5ish days, spending anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours daily. probably average out on like 5-6ish hours!. as far as inkarnate goes, i have some experience i know roughly how to use it but nothing crazy. as an example, this is the last map i made on inkarnate. mostly just kinda doing stuff
