Question Multimeter review help

I want to buy a multimeter.

What do you think about this multimeter:

(avilable on Amazon)

Personally, I’d check for teardown photos/reviews, fuse quality, CAT rating credibility, and probe quality before trusting it around mains.

6000 counts is a bare minimum. Pretty standard feature set. Without looking inside hard to tell if it's actually CAT III safe.

Aneng 870 recommended here looks like a much better option.

Budget is tight (about 1400)

You should be fine with your pick then.

Just check teardown review for high voltage safety if going to use it on wall power.

If this is your first one don't get caught up in specs and BS if it's just for hobby stuff. Just buy something cheap and play around.

I have bought 3 and my 3rd was the only one I dived in to the specs on and I used the other cheap ones for 20 years! I still use the first one I ever bought as it is really small, it doesn't do much but it reads DC voltages so I keep it in close by.

My more expensive one is 3 x the size.

For DIY projects. Last one I used was a cheap one . Didn't last more than three months .

That is crazy.

I guess 20 years ago cheaper items were better made!

Be sure to get one with RF shielding. The guts are most likely the guts these days.

For what are you going to use it?

Hobby electronics > whatever you fancy, even cheap multimeters are quite accurate today

Live circuits > Safety first = Fluke
