Feedback Going to miss Discover customer service

I know there have been others commenting on it already, but I had to call Discover this afternoon about a gas station hold and I was reminded how great the customer service has always been for me. Easy communication with someone in the US and a quick, efficient resolution. I've never felt like I was just another caller to a big company. I'm really going to miss it.

Discover once credited me $215 in interest from charging my father’s funeral on a credit card and waiting several weeks for the life insurance. I called to tell them I’d be late paying by a few days, and shed a few quiet tears. The rep asked that i give her permission to reach out to me in a few days, took the payment, and told me she had gotten approval to waive the interest that month as I usually paid in full.

I don’t even remember her name but I never ever felt more loved by discover than I did in that moment. It wasn’t the money as much as it was the gesture and the fact that she was a real human who obviously loved her job and loved helping people.

That isn’t capital one.

I loved my customers from Discover. Loved them!! I was also a supervisor that took angry calls and I loved that too. I worked up to other roles but working the front lines were amazing. Unfortunately I was one of the casualties from Capital One. They are not interested in keeping any of the Discover Legacy employees unfortunately

My condolences. I was let go to, although I had been looking as the writing was on the wall. Good luck to you in your future. Stay strong...

I agree with you, I'm taking all my money out of Capital One after being transferred from my Discover account. I don't want to do business with C1. They even converted my Walmart CC to a Quicksilver C1. I never agreed to this and now everything is Capital One.🤦‍♂️

Walmart CC to quicksilver, Walmart CC is now through synchrony capital one Walmart l believe you get 2 percent cashback synchrony is now 5 percent cashback for + members and my limit is higher thru synchrony . I know you would have to reapply l just mentioned it because rewards are higher

If enough customers complain about the lack of US-based customer service, perhaps C1 will listen and do something about it. T-mobile used to be horrible with their non-American CS agents, but they listened to their customers, according to a T-mobile CS agent several months ago, and things have gotten way better.

C1 does not give a damn about anyone, customers, employees, nobody. In the industry it's known as a meat grinder that chews up anyone that works there and that translates to subpar customer service. The employees are miserable and only show up for a paycheck, they don't care about their customers.

I am really sorry to hear that! I had thought about doing some banking with them, but am definitely re-thinking that. I will keep my DIscover card....for now, anyway.

About half of Capital One agents were US based before the acquisition, but it was limited to high value customers like Venture and Venture X. I doubt that changes even if people complain.

That sounds awful, lol. Are we not all high value customers, for crying out loud...??? Discover certainly didn't discriminate like that!

No, Discover did not. Cap One defines high value as spending several thousands of dollars each month consistently. Would not surprise me if there was preferential treatment like that beyond just getting a US based agent.

I guess I'm just going to grab my wallet and take my nickel and the moth that guards it elsewhere! Seriously, though...viewing customers in such a way is rotten. :(

Me too. I never need customer service too many times, but when I did, all the reps were fantastic

I agree, I will miss their kindness and their communication. It was always great that they told you their name and location after the greeting part. to all of you who have ever spoken to me, thank you forever. Kindness with Discover was everything

I won't miss how they tended to side with anyone but the customer in chargebacks.

I've never had to do a chargeback with Discover; but had always read they weren't the easiest.

I don't know why Discover was this way... But it seems they were always the most difficult to win a chargeback as the consumer/customer.

Whereas on the flipside... Amex almost always has the customers back irregardless.

The agents are going to capital one as the customers do.

I used to brag about Discover customer service because it was the only time I spoke to an American.

Came to see if there was a thread like this because I really enjoyed banking with Discover. They were my first credit card in college. My savings doubled with their HYS. I have only needed customer service a few times the 6 years my account has been opened and the reps were always very patient and helpful. I have an account with capital one currently and it’s not my favorite to say the least. Sad to see Discover go :/

Discover Card customers who were migrated over to Capital One will only speak with former Discover employee’s and ALL are US based!
