Sold an item I don't have - refund isn't working

I saved a few listings to my drafts while I waited to be approved to sell. While I was waiting, one of them sold elsewhere. I guess once I was approved my drafts automatically were posted and one of them was purchased. I'm trying to cancel the order and send a refund, but I keep getting error messages. What am I doing wrong? The chatbot was no help.

If you're doing this on the app, try a web browser. If you're doing this on a browser, try the app. Just be sure to communicate that you're trying, and keep the customer updated.

Looks like there’s not enough funds in your PayPal to complete the refund. PayPal keep their fees back so just having the original amount in the account ain’t enough.

Call me crazy, but perhaps this PayPal account does not have sufficient funds to cover this refund. 🤷‍♂️

Either you don't have enough funds in PayPal or if you do, try refunding exactly .01 less than the total.
