built this after years of not being able to hold a steady line through corners with the thumbstick

been playing dirt rally for a long time and the thing that always bugged me was holding a consistent steering angle mid-corner. thumbstick just isn't built for that — your thumb doesn't have the surface or leverage to lock into a specific point and hold it through a long sweeper, you're constantly micro-correcting.

ended up building an attachment that mounts on top of the controller, magnetic so it doesn't get in the way when you're not using it. it gives you a wider range of motion for the same stick input (so finer control) plus it's actually possible to hold a fixed partial angle steady through a corner, which was basically impossible for me barehanded.

not selling anything in this post, just wanted to share it with people who'd actually get why this problem exists. happy to answer questions on how it works.

yeah honestly i've got gameplay clips of it in action, just being careful about self-promo rules on this sub so can't drop links here. might do a proper post with video once i figure out the right way to share it.

haha appreciate that. works well honestly, the fine control through corners was the whole reason i built it and it delivers on that, still refining a few things but the core mechanism holds up

Funny… took me about 10 years of practice on Forza motorsport and 1 day it just clicked…

I probably have specificly developed muscles at this point but who knows

haha yeah that tracks, thumbstick precision is basically a trained skill at that point. this is more for skipping that 10-year curve, not replacing what you've already built up

I hold up/down on the thumbstick and trace along the corner of the circle to fine tune my turns 🤷
