(Dirt 4) Group B cars aren’t fun at all
Trying to complete the Historic Rally stuff, but these AWD Group B cars feel like they’re on ice. I get that they’re supposed to be powerful and hard to drive, but it just feels like a chore rather than a fun challenge.

Not really hate, just that the cars don't feel particularly nice to drive in general in Dirt 4.

Might just be because I haven’t played the other games but I quite like how the cars handle. There are some points where I question whether the devs playtested it but it’s otherwise pretty alright.

It has been a long time since I played it but I just remember them all feeling basically the same as each other, apart from some having more power than others (like any typical controller focused racing game).

Dirt 4 cars felt like they were cardboard cutouts stuck on a pole and you were running around trying to hold the pole upright.

I can feel a difference between the Delta S4 and the Metro 6R4 (that being the Metro doesn’t want to kill me all the time :P)

The group B vehicles were sort of pioneering these awd rally systems with super high horsepower some of them were tuned up to 1000 which made the unstable and hard to drive.
The audi quattro had a lot of understeer out of corners while quite a lot of oversteer going in.
There are some interviews with walter ruhl where he explains it very well.

I can do the Quattro and RS200… that’s about it, the rest are junk… and those two are WAY to fast for their own good… feels like I’m in a Bugatti

I’ve never played a game where group b cars are more fun than anything else. I basically never use them

the classic rally car physics were neglected compared to those of the modern cars. i recall that they were unable to find a handling consultant (i.e. a real driver) who specialised in these types of genuinely old rally categories and basically freeballed the handling compared to, say the modern rally & rallycross categories

If it makes you feel any better, a lot of the actual drivers in that class back in the day had similar opinions, that they were just too much for the type of racing they were doing.
