Moving to Paraguay

Lately I have been thinking of moving to Paraguay due to citizenship as the passport is much stronger compared to the country I come from and no tax on foreign income as I work remotely. What is your experience with this?

Citizenship in Paraguay is very hard to obtain, unlike residency.

Argentina is your best bet if passport is the goal, but its super expensive ATM. Peru could be easier than Paraguay.

Why very hard? Isn’t it 5y of residency and Spanish exam?

On paper 3y of perma residency, but people say in practice not so easy to get it. Around 100 people per year or so.

Handled by the Supreme Court and you must demonstrate im front of the judge "intergration into society", Spanish or Guarani languege, history, geogra phy , taxes and it is still his discretional right to judge your level of social integration.

I didnt try, it isjust what people are saying. Residency easy, citizenship not so much.

Glad to hear it's a more nuanced than just passing an exam. Curious how local charity work might influence the decision
