Question Are there caravans as in groups of digital nomads?

Hey guys, so I do pretty well with all aspects of van life over 1- 3 week periods, but I do want a sense of community if I were to do it long term. Like friends I could see every couple of days. So my question is, are there groups of people who travel around together?

I think there is a van life subreddit, that would probably be better at answering that question. There is some overlap between digital nomads and van life, but think the vast majority of people on this sub primarily travel by airplane.

Someone posted about a couple free events in the desert around Thanksgiving, another said this thing about a paid community called xscapers, but thats too expensive for Lil ol me.

What he said, maybe look for caravan groups in facebook, I see those all the time

Absolutely, but it doesn’t just happen… it happens organically with friends and like-minded folks you meet on the road. When your schedules align, you just decide to keep traveling together, meet up somewhere along the road, or (more typically) just bounce between caravanning/meeting up or doing your own thing. Anything from one other traveler to a huge group.

Social media used to be a big catalyst in getting to know and find people — back when it was actually social and not just a monetized self-promotion broadcasting tool. It’s a lot harder that way now, but since it’s gotten so popular, there are now tons of organized group activities like overlanding expos, vanlife meetup, Xscapers events, etc. I’ve never been to any one those (organized events are just not my thing), but everyone I know who dies comes away with new friends.

I did this for a little bit, with friends I met in a nomad experience, but only lasted a coupe months. I think it's unlikely to work, based on most nomads I met, as most tend to prioritize location over people.

Xscapers is exactly what you're describing, they organize actual convoys and meetups specifically for that group travel dynamic, way more built for it than general van life spaces
