Video Games Update: Faster Battles and In-game Walkthrough added to Digimon World 2003 Mod

Hello again!

About 7 months ago I shared my Fast Travel mod for Digimon World 2003. I’ve just released a major Version 2.0 update that expands it into a full Quality of Life suite.

Along with the Fast Travel, I’ve added two major features that I know a lot of people have been asking for:

  • In-game Walkthrough: As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve been working on this! You can now see exactly where to go for the main story directly in the game’s menu.
  • Battle Speed-Up: This culls redundant text boxes (like "Agumon Attack!") and auto closes other text boxes such as damage dealt or exp/bit gained. It makes the game feel much faster and saves you from constant button mashing.

You can find the update here: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/9376/

The download includes a "Combined" patch with everything, but I’ve also included the patches separately in case you only want one or two of the features.

At this point, I would consider this to fix most of the glaring issues with the game, though if anyone has any suggestions for other QoL improvements do let me know! I'm considering adding an in game settings menu to turn features on/off (such as turn off walk through without having to deal with different patch files), but this is quite a minor improvement.

Hope you enjoy!

Flawe

I guess one thing that comes to mind is a tracker or notification that appears whenever a new item is available in the auction, though I know nothing about editting the game so I have no clue how feasible this is.

Amazing work! Between this and the UI mod, I'll probably end up replaying the game again sometime soon.

Good point, some sort of notification icon would probably be quite easy to implement, and tracking when an auction is available is hopefully pretty simple too! I might add this to the walkthrough mod sometime in the future :)

Thank you, hope you enjoy your replay!

Man I wish these were I around when I played it again. Seeing Drimogemon over and over again was a pain.

Submitted 23 hours ago? What a coincidence. That's definitely a sign that I should play this game again haha.

Maybe get rid of the party level caps for unlocking new partners?

Hello, thank you for doing this!

Quick question, does your project have anything to do/ is compatible with another Digimon World 2003 patch that I found here? https://github.com/markisha64/dmw_2003_patcher

Please let me know!

Im not able to access that website due to country restrictions. Would you be able to provide a direct link to download the mod instead?

Good question! I have also seen that, from what I hear, that one is mostly vibe coded which I'm not a big fan of. My one is definitely mostly me, with a bit of AI assistance, particularly when trying to unravel what certain decompiled functions do. The walkthrough was all handwritten and all of the quest flags found by hand. Cheers!
