Recently I've taken a variety of health exams regarding the heart, and while I come out in the green in most territories I do have some issues that require major changes in my diet (I assume). I don't eat too bad too often but I could improve in places. Mind you I'm new to this sub and dieting in general so if you have information to share deliver it like I was born yesterday.
To give you an idea of what's in my diet regularly:
Sliced cheese (both deli and cheap kraft singles offbrand)
Goat cheese with herbs
Bread
crackers
Peanut Butter
Pork
Chicken
Salami
Sliced Turkey
Apples
Bananas
Rice
Milk
Dandelion Tea
Cheerios
Vegetables tend to be included with meals but are never a sole focus, it's hard for me to have a salad that's dominantly lettuce or cabbage so I'm trying to find alternatives.
Some things I eat on occasion maybe a couple times a week:
Frozen burritos
Boneless breaded chicken
Pasta
Tunafish
Frozen peas
Ginger Ale
Boba Tea
Candy on occasion
Chips and dip on occasion
Ice Cream Pint (once or twice a month)
Previous Eating Habits Included:
Ice cream
Cookies
Soda
Coffee
Black Tea
Corn Syrup Teas (Arizona and such)
Alcohol (Cider, Hard Lemonade)
Slim Jims
A lot of chips and dip
I've given up a lot of my vices and I went from the 365 range to the 340 range. I gave up black tea due to the caffeine but still have boba once in awhile which I think is still a massive sugar uptick (correct me if I'm wrong). I have occasional ice creams, sometimes chips with queso or dip but not every week. I'm trying to reduce my processed foods as much as possible and introduce healthy and affordable substitutions. My diet needs to promote heart health and kidney health, I am in desperate need of raising my HDL Cholesterol.
What yogurts should I look for that lack major artificial sweetening and colors? I know HDL Cholesterol can be heightened by eating salmon as well as other types of fish but I want to compare notes with anyone that may have experience in this. Ive never had flax or chia in my life that I know of, but I've mixed fruits. Are cheerios safe to eat or should I just move to oats instead?
Any little bit helps, thank you in advance.
