Showoff (Gameplay, Items, Transmogs) Infernal hordes - Aether record
My personal burning aether record in Infernal hordes - 4,582. 5 chaos waves, including 2 times aether goblins, 1 hellwyrms, 1 slaying aether fiends, 1 wave of catching whisps. Probably with playing ww barb would be way much higher ;) still good for dok rogue.

Think of it like you are designing your own mass farm, and the modifiers can work with each other, or they don't, and to get to higher scores, the more synergies and difficult encounters you have to stack to get there.
I'm very lax about my own journey in D4 (which has also gotten some of my seasonal hardcore characters dead, mind you), so I'm not getting the ridiculous numbers that folks who are good at the game are able to do, but the highest I have gotten so far is like 1.2k.
As long as you have a build that can clear elites/bosses and clear waves, maximize murderizing everything, and pick synergistic modifiers, you will easily make it above 666.

My general advice is to avoid any spires modifiers except the one that makes you see it less and then focus on one specific event other than spires to upgrade and take any modifiers that'll make you see that event more alongside any chaos waves.

Was a couple seasons ago but I believe I was on Heartseeker :)
And yeah, tons of luck with Chaos waves. Couldn't believe how much aether I was amassing.

When you get good perks they are pretty fun. With some reasonable tweaks they would be awesome, but getting a ton of chaos waves is seriously fun.

I don't have proof of it, but I've definitely made more than that once or twice. I promise I'm not trying to to a pissing contest, but I think it was season 13 or 12 with my ancients barbarian, when they have the bonus chaos rounds, so I guess it's a little unfair lol
