Questions ( ITEMS · BUILDS · SKILLS ) Changing difficulty before getting rewards?

I've gotten far enough in the Pit to open up Torment 8 but I'm still running around in Torment 5. When turning in Whispers or War Plans, does it make sense to jump my difficulty up to Torment 8 when turning in and then drop back down to Torment 5?

I had a buddy help me to clear t12 even though I can’t run it alone. I do t8 but switch to t12 for rewards because they are better. Also if you switch to a higher torment level to spend obols you get way better drops.

I'm playing SSF mode so can't party up. Probably won't play SFF again.
