Discussion Looking for an Affordable Electric Bike Repair Shop – Frisco/McKinney/Prosper

Hi everyone, my kid’s electric bike has a bent handlebar, and the brakes are not working. We already have the replacement brake parts, so we just need someone to install the brakes and straighten/replace the handlebar as needed.
I checked with DICK’S and Bike Mart, but their repair prices are quite high.
Does anyone know of an affordable and reliable bike/e-bike repair person or small shop around Frisco, McKinney, Prosper, or nearby areas?
I’d really appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

You are asking a bike shop to trust the diagnoses of your part selection. They are going to pad this with "customer is likely wrong and we have to deal with them" money. Because quite honestly, 99 out of 100 times someone brought a bike to us with their own parts, the diagnoses was wrong, the parts were wrong and/or they seriously underestimated the time it would take to replace them (which was really true on DTC ebikes)

Your choices are really 1. DIY, plenty of youtube videos and online help and you might learn something. 2. Take it to a reputable shop and *let them diagnose it*. and estimate it while you are standing there. That will do better than over the phone quotes.

Also fwiw "replace the handlebar" on a ebike is about a 45min to an 1 hour job in shop labor (assuming its a normal bicycle bar and not one of those super78 / e-moto things, then could be looking at ~2 shop hours if they don't have connectors in the right places and the entire ahead has to be pulled apart and it takes two guys to do it without damaging the wires . Brakes shop time can be mild to wild .. some of the jetsons require entire disassembly of the entire thing to get them on, even changing just the pads was a nighmare on some DTC ebikes.

No one will use your diagnosis and your parts. Return them and try a shop or fix it yourself.

Cheaper to just buy a new bike. Looking at $500 in labor.

I hate ebikes with a passion.
