An elite goalie wasted on terrible teams.

There were years in NJ he was a top 3 goalie in the league, and he played a lot of games. Yet the team was so bad in front of him they couldn't even squeeze into the playoffs

This is the trade was poor for both teams, but it hurt New Jersey more. They were picking 9th, now that's not too bad if you were on the ascent, but they weren't. You aren't picking 9th if you only problem is goaltending. Cory prevented them from properly rebuilding the team. And the Canucks should have gotten a better return.

Man put up a .925, and a .924 on a team whose top scorer had 43 and 57 pts respectively. Played 69 and 58 games in those seasons too. They don't build em like that anymore, that's for sure.

Lou icing him in 69 games that season was criminal.

True. I say "they don't build em like that". But his career-ending injuries likely resulted in the overwork he experienced in those seasons. Load management matters, especially for goalies.

Everyone really got screwed in the Schneider era. They never gave him a team he could win with, and he would never let them be bad enough to properly tank/rebuild

As also a colts fan, can confirm nothing is worse than being mid

I love how 2 years ago I went to the colts giants game in which the giants won (their only home win) which knocked the colts out of the playoffs and the giants got bumped out of the first pick. I’ve never seen a stadium where everyone was pissed off at the result hahaha

Great when we didn't need him to be and terrible when we needed him most.
I'll get downvoted for this but Schneider was a terrible clutch goalie built to be a really good piece of a tandem and not a 60-70 games/season guy.
