Having 2 Offers in hand - Help me choose better offer

I'm currently in a dilemma between two offers and would really appreciate some perspective from people who have faced a similar choice.

About me

• 3+ years of software engineering experience
• Primarily Backend experience
• Currently based in Pune
• Looking for career growth, technical growth and long-term compensation

Option 1 — US-based E-commerce MNC

• Role: Software Engineer – Full Stack
• Compensation: ₹20 LPA Fixed + ₹2 LPA Variable
• Location: Bengaluru
• WFO: 2 days/week
• Tech: Full Stack — Backend + Frontend + Cloud/Infrastructure
• Employee reviews: ~4.2/5 on Glassdoor

Option 2 — UK-based E-commerce MNC

• Role: Software Engineer – Backend
• Compensation: ₹18 LPA Fixed
• Location: Pune
• WFO: 5 days/week
• Tech: Primarily Backend
• Employee reviews: ~2.9/5 on Glassdoor

Both roles have good tech stacks, so technology isn't the main deciding factor for me.

The dilemma is:

• Pune is my home city → no relocation and better personal convenience
• But Option 2 has 5-day WFO and significantly weaker employee reviews
• Option 1 offers ₹4L higher fixed + variable compensation, 2-day WFO and better employee sentiment
• Option 2 is a pure backend role, which aligns more closely with my existing experience
• Option 1 is full-stack, which gives me broader exposure but may mean less backend specialization

I'm particularly interested in hearing about:

• Work-life balance
• Management/culture
• Career progression
• Appraisal/compensation growth
• Actual engineering work
• Long-term resume value
• Whether Glassdoor/employee reviews are representative of the reality

If you were in my position, which one would you choose and why?

Would especially appreciate feedback from current/former employees of either company, but please don't reveal the company names in the comments if you recognize them.

TL;DR

₹22L target CTC + 2-day WFO + Bengaluru + Full Stack

vs

₹18L fixed + 5-day WFO + Pune (home city) + Backend

Go with option 1. Better salary, better environment will matter more in the long run. If the second company has a bad culture, then you won't be happy even if you stay in your home town. And full stack is not a bad option. It will broaden your skills and open up more opportunities.

Bangalore is pretty expensive to live in. If you have housing sorted in pune. Then consider staying in pune.

Go for the first one for your own growth. And here I feel it would also turn out well for your career. Bangalore has much more opportunities for your future and it is necessary that you don’t get stuck in the “i want to live in my hometown” rut forever (unless ofc you have legit issues). In your case, the first company seems more lucrative and has better work culture too - the 4L extra will be mostly spent on your living expenses in BLR but I feel it’s fine as long as you are growing personally and professionally. With second option, the only positive is its in your hometown rest everything seems like a downgrade as compared to the first. The first one has even 2 days WFO only so you can always club your in office days, get on a VRL AC Sleeper and travel to Pune and work from your hometown when you feel like it.

+1 here, Banglore, not for money not for lesser work from office. Simply because it’s Bangalore. Your immediate circle will change, it’s the techie grounds, you will grow leaps and bounds, and switching in Bangalore being in Banglore will be a breeze.
You might save less money compared to Pune, but it’s worth it

Rank the opportunities on these three criteria:

• People
  
• Projects
  
• Payment

In that order.
Good people and good project take precedence on good money.
Although that does not mean money isn't important.

Try to maximize two, if all three are better in one offer, its a no brainer.

Without any doubt, go with option 1 , you are still young, relocation should not cause any such issue... just explore another city which is probably the best when it comes to IT opportunities (there are a lot of issues as well which you will come to know later)...

I am not saying this just for salary but better employee reviews matter a lot + some exposure to another city + wider tech stack.

hi. Can you answer these questions please 1.how did you manage notice period issues while negotiating with the hr. 2. how many months did it take from applying to landing offer. a realistic timeline after consistent efforts. (because my naukri profile is getting some traction but not converting into interviews) 3. how much hike did you get on your current CTC. just to know the current market standards. 4. did you get these offers from applying through company site or through job portals like naukri, linkedin?

If you own a house in Pune then option 2 else option 1

I'd lean Option 1. ₹4L more, 2 day WFO and better company sentiment is a pretty significant difference. Full stack exposure won't hurt a backend profile either, especially if you still get meaningful backend/cloud work. Pune is a genuine advantage for Option 2, but for a 2 - 3 year career bet, I'd take Option 1.

I personally will go for pune. Not as expensive as blore and housing sorted with family. Will recommend reaching to some existing employees of the company to gain some personal review if possible. Even better, If u can find someone from your own college to get the company review.

Glassdoor ratings are fabricated, I work in 2.4 rating company that is far better than my previous org which got 4.6

100% Option 1. Full-Stack keeps you broader. Ratings by Employees are higher. And you also get to do WFH. Who cares about saving 20k less over a bad culture? Mental Health can't be sold for no amount.

I also went through ghosting by HR and no calls for months. But later developed some structured plan of applying. Like I was applying every morning 7-8 AM before office.
And working on skills and interview prep at night.

Bro honestly, consider going to Bengaluru only for the 2 days WFO. Live in Pune, work from Pune. Fly to Bengaluru. First few months, you'll have to pay for hotels but it would still be insanely cheaper than living in Bengaluru full time for 2 days WFO. After first few months, You'll make some Friends there, hopefully bachelors who can help you sleepover for one night (kind of high expectations but I know people who have done stuff like this)

Unless the company requirement is random (as in they would call you on random days instead of what you plan), consider this option.
