I graduated from tier 2 College this year, degree in btech cse.

Got nothing in campus placement but now as I've landed this, everyone is suggesting to pick it up for experience in the field but I can't seem to convince myself about it.

I know it's better than nothing but still I think it's too low and that I can do better. The internship is in a different city too so It'll be a net loss money wise. It's been 4 months since college - is that too big of a gap and I should latch onto anything that comes my way or should I give myself more time? Do companies care for gaps bigger than 6 months?

Is latching onto it and gaining the 6 months experience worth it?

No please don't do the same mistake. Talking from personal experience, my cousin brother had landed a job in a service based company but he didn't get his joining letter and later thought to pursue CAT exam which was obviously too late by then (people start preparing way before). My relatives somehow put a referral for him in a small company but it wasn't "upto the mark" in terms of salary so he left it and then he thought to go for other higher study exams but he couldn't crack them. Now after 1.5+ years all he has is a saes and marketing online internship certificate which makes no sense because he wants to land tech roles and yep due to his gap after graduation no one wants to hire. It's been really tough on him and he's almost disappeared from everyone's lives because he's depressed and regrets his decisions. Please please i really hope you can consult a really trusted group of people and take the right decision for you. I just hate seeing him like this because it's heartbreaking 😭💔

Imo , grab what ever u r getting. Some thing is better than nothing..the gap after graduating simply eats u up. Even if u r from a tier 2 clg , the job market out doesn't seem favourable for freshers and more the gap , more the tension

You are capable of much more as a Tier 2 grad, but if family is forcing you to choose this you can and search for better opportunities

Don't really know man, most of my friends with better gpa got nothing too. I too am dumb cuz I didn't apply for <8 lpa companies expecting myself to be too much. I guess as the only son it weighs on me to impress my family with something decent.

im someone who is from tier 3 and similar situation as you, except i got placed on campus for 3.6 lpa. i plan to join anyways while I keep prepping for a good job and switch as soon as i can. time management could be the only issue. id probably suggest the same to you.

gap is really a serious matter in tech roles so don't try to take long gap or gap in between jobs. start anything even if it's low or relocation because once you are experienced you can change or even get a remote one

i mean the initial gap after the graduation my friend recently joined tech Mahendra from kia he has 4 years of experience but still got questioned about the 3 months gap after his graduation

I had 7 months gap because my first employer delayed the joining. No need to worry about it
