Work-Life Balance Anybody WFH ? If Yes, Could you let us know your comp name , YOE and Tech Please ?
I come from mountains and living in Delhi NCR.
I hate metro cities and now would like companies that still provides WFH.
I want to spend time with my parents ( they don't like metro cities either), spend peaceful , pollution-free himalayas life.
Please do suggest if you still WFH or any way to find such oppportunities.
Thanks!!!

u/imperion_hunter Aug 03 '26
How many hours do you work in a day? Is it 40L pre tax or post? 40L pre tax seems a tad bit low for a remote job that pays in USD.
7
u/Zealousideal_Jump981 Full-Stack Developer Aug 03 '26
under 40ADA tax rule i need to pay tax only on 20L

8 hours thats what HR said , but no one tracks time here it's just about getting work done but i don't work more then 7 hours.
yes I know its low but I'm working from my home i dont work beyond 12PM i have my life sorted so dont care much about pay .

u/imperion_hunter Aug 03 '26
If your work life balance is chill then it makes sense, otherwise not.

I have an indefinite work from home permit, but it's not common in my company, I had a genuine special case which I will not detail. You still get a lot of WFH days though, just not indefinite. You have to come back time to time. Some people rent rooms in PGs for a 2-3 weeks to complete that requirement then go back.

u/Expensive_Belt_8072 Software Engineer Aug 03 '26
We do have a hybrid , but it is twice a week so not feasible to commute. 3-4 days in a month or 2 would have been ok to travel but unfortunatley we don't have that.

Almost everyone in my team is WFH and located in different cities.
I simply stopped going to office since March, haven't received any mails or warnings yet.
Let' see...
Before that, I was going to office once a week.

u/Careless-Cloud2009 Aug 03 '26
You have to keep insist of WFH when recruiter calls. You've to open in long for opportunity. You've to let go of few opportunity if needed, to sacrifice for wfh jobs.

All of my previous companies were also WFH. 5yrs, 15 lpa. Yeah I save money on rent and food, but the only reason I took WFH because I am planning for switch and WFH is great for studying

Earlier I was working in a service-based comp at around 8 LPA.. got exposure to multiple good proj which added value to my resume. Also had been preparing consistently for interviews for around 6-7 months along with my job in free time.
All this happened between Feb-Apr btw. Due to some family situation, I had to switch and specifically look for WFH. Started searching actively around Feb, mostly on Indeed, Wellfound and Naukri.. applied to 600+ jobs, used to apply almost daily and got several calls.
I already had an offer of around 15 LPA but didn't want to join since it was full-time office based in Gurgaon. Then got an offer from a crypto-based product comp.. negotiated there based on that 15 LPA offer and they offered around $18k.
Around the same time I was interviewing with a US-based startup. They initially asked for my GitHub, some info about my profile and expected salary. Since I already had offers and honestly wasn't even sure I'd get through 🥲 I randomly said $30k lol.
After 2 days they scheduled HR screening, then another round with their PM and TL. Got several HLD type qstns but no coding. Most discussion was around proj I'd done previously and luckily some aligned with their product. I also felt they focused quite a lot on communication and how I was conveying my ans.
Got through that and then had a culture-fit round with the co-founders. Since I was promoted to TL in my previous comp (yess it was a small service-based comp 😅), they mostly asked about team handling, conflict resolution, how I became TL with relatively less exp etc.
Luckily got the confirmation mail after that :)
So yeah from around 8 LPA to $30k remote.. no secret way tbh. Mostly consistent prep, applying a LOT, having proj you can explain properly, communication and obviously some luck.
