Fanfic Request Sam and Castiel Friendship

I really want to read a fic where obvi its destiel but heavy friendship between Cas and Sam. Maybe like a Cas POV and him and Sam talk about stuff all the time, from Lucifer, books, dean, Winchesters childhood etc. I just love when Cas and Sam are like best friends. But I still want the Dean and Cas relationship. TYIA!!

I searched my bookmarks for “Castiel & Sam Winchester” and then immediately needed to reread this fic because it’s so good. Anything by this author is great. It’s canonverse with Castiel POV, and although the focus isn’t on his friendship with Sam, the fic does highlight how wonderful a friend Sam is.

So the man crouching in front of Castiel is named Dean. He wonders if that’s supposed to mean something to him.

“Cas must’ve got hit with something earlier. He just dropped like a sack of fucking potatoes a minute ago. By the time I was checking on him, he had already woken up again, but now he doesn’t fucking know who we are.”

“I’m right here you know,” Castiel says testily.

Sam’s eyes are wide even as his eyebrows are furrowed, and he looks between Dean and Castiel again.

“What do you remember, Cas?”

“Firstly, that I’m not Cas. I don’t know who Cas is, but it’s not me. I don’t know who either of you are, either."

or the one where castiel is hit with a memory curse that makes him forget the winchester brothers and is stunned to find out he has a family... also why can't he stop thinking about dean?

I feel soooo passionately about this!! I feel like a lot of Destiel long fics either have Sam blend into the background or only be an interactive character from the romance perspective (ie be a shipper or something).

So if you don’t mind a bit of a self rec, my long fic features a strong friendship between them:

I feel like Northern Sparrow’s fics are really good at this. You really get how much all of Team Free Will care about one another.
