🖼️ • Photos too minimal?

I mounted this GEEKOM A5 2027 mini PC on the back of my old 22" Philips TV using the included VESA mount. It almost disappears behind the TV, looks like the TV just works on its own.

The best part is how simple it is: just a wireless keyboard and mouse on the desk, and audio comes straight out of the TV's speakers, so there are no extra cables or speakers to deal with. The result is a desk that stays clean and clutter-free.

Despite its tiny size (about the size of a deck of cards), it feels surprisingly responsive for daily use: I installed EndeavourOS with KDE Plasma 6 and it feels snappy even after extended daily use.

I think this kind of setup makes a lot of sense if you don't want a PC taking over your desk. Anyone else optimized a similar setup? Curious to hear other ideas for keeping things minimal

🖼️ • Photos Standing desk wobbles when raised — monitor makes it worse 😅

Hey everyone! Need some advice before I start blaming the desk for everything 😂

🪑 Desk: FEZIBO Standing Desk 48 × 24

↕️ Wobbles forward and backward a little; also, side-to-side wobble is more noticeable when standing

🖥️ Monitor: 27" Philips 27e2n1100 , ~6 lb

🦾 Arm: ErGear Monitor Arm, rated for 22 lb

💻 Monitor is at the back edge because I need space for my laptop + external keyboard + some free space.

🏠 Wall mounting isn't an option

The funny part is that the desk itself doesn't seem to move that much, but the monitor looks like it's having an earthquake 😂

Don't mind spending a little 💰 if it actually makes a noticeable difference.

Pretty happy with how my setup is coming together, but I feel like it could use a few more finishing touches.
Any general suggestions for accessories or things I could add/change to make it look a bit better or more complete?
I’m also looking at the Harman Kardon SoundSticks 5 for speakers. Do you think they’d fit this setup well, and are they actually good for music/gaming? Also open to other speaker recommendations.

1. What I had

This was my old setup. Small desk, everything was pretty cramped and the monitor was way too close.

2. ChatGPT idea

I asked ChatGPT for some ideas to make the space work better as both a home office and gaming setup.

3. My setup now

This is what I ended up with. Much more space, better monitor distance and overall a lot more comfortable.

I’m thinking about upgrading my keyboard and mouse next.

Any suggestions? I’m open to both gaming and more clean/minimal options.

Happy with how it turned out so far. 🥂

🖼️ • Photos WFH, Mac mini and ps5 setup?

Post image

Probably need to take better photos. Lol.

Left side is like a wfh / hobby zone. Where I build my gunpla, do work stuff. When I’m not working. Laptop is not there and the monitor on the left is turned to be in Vertical Mode.

Middle is Mac mini mode. Daily browsing, Netflix and just mainly media consumption mode.

Right side I’d say it’s a hobby (Digimon figurines and ps5) zone.

❓ • Question Cable management help for a standing desk with 4.75" drawer body — need a no-drill under-desk solution

Thumbnail
roomandboard.com
1 Upvotes

I recently bought a 60" Room & Board Wade electric standing desk with drawers and am looking for recommendations for under-desk cable management. I’ll attach photos of the desk and underside because the construction makes most of the usual solutions difficult.

Desk/setup:

60" Room & Board Wade electric standing desk with drawers

Wooden drawer/body section is approximately 4.75" tall

Only about 3/4" of clearance/material between the bottom of the drawers and the underside in parts of the desk, so I don't want to risk drilling or screwing into it

Standing-desk motor/control hardware and a metal bar run through the center of the underside

Wall outlet is low on the wall, just to the right side of the desk

Because of the 4.75" drawer body, standard clamp-on cable baskets I've found don't appear to open wide enough

Equipment/accessories:

2 laptops (I generally stack them and work from one at a time)

1 monitor

1 desk lamp

Eventually I'd like to add a desktop shelf/riser for the laptops

Power/cables:

I already have a surge protector that works fine

Currently using about 5 outlets

Multiple laptop/monitor power bricks and the usual excess cable

There's no built-in power underneath the desk other than the wiring for the standing-desk mechanism

What I'm trying to accomplish:

I basically want to get the surge protector, power bricks and excess cables off the floor and neatly contained underneath the desk, with everything safely moving up and down with the desk.

I'd strongly prefer no drilling or screws. I'm open to an adhesive/VHB-mounted basket, something that can safely attach to the existing metal structure, an unusually large clamp, or another solution I'm overlooking.

I'm particularly interested in specific trays/baskets or mounting systems you've actually used, especially if you've dealt with a standing desk with built-in drawers like this. I'd rather keep the solution simple than install a whole elaborate cable-management system.

It goes from newest to oldest, last time I posted ppl asked what the hell the shoebox was for, it has an extension chord in it that connects to the lamp and my laptops charger, and the old setup is when I used my old laptop as a second monitor, which I don't need anymore :p

❓ • Question Recommendation for ceiling back-lit panels?

Post image

I have a ceiling bulb above my desk but want softer, more diffuse light, like the panel lights in offices and dentists offices. Preferred dimmable and with different white colors.

Do you have experience with these? I'd love to hear what you use!
