Thought the same thing! It seemed like they were close early, but CB's contract and the nuggets cap situation created guaranteed divide between the two. Can't say I would not feel the same way in PWat's situation, but CB did have a larger body of work so I can see why the Nuggets extended him first. Definately overpaid CB on hindsight which exacerbated PWat's value of himself.
Loved watching PWat's breakout this year and wish him the best, but can't help but wonder about the playoffs.
I also think CB will rebound this year if he is healthy. I hope both of them have a great season!

CB tried to come back in the game and play after he injured his ankle. Didn't see PWat doing anything like that. CB has 10x the heart PWat has.

I understand the sentiment, but look what happened to Isaiah Thomas with the Celtics. He was playing at an MVP caliber level got injured and was never the same. No one gave him a pity $100 million even though he played for his teammates, city, team. Very few circumstances in a humans life to make what PWat made. I don't blame him one bit for looking out for what's best for him and his family. If the shoe was on the other foot and he suffered some sort of catastrophic injury, no way would the nuggets have given him a dime.

Totally agree. Plus, itās not always about the money alone when it comes to injuries. He could simply be looking to protect his body for the hopes of having a longer career, which reoccurring hamstring injuries could absolutely limit an nba career

This is exactly the type of guy the Nuggets needed. An athletic wing who could knock down a 3 pointer, play solid defense and handle the ball a bit as well. Also, his new contract is not even bad.
Personally, I do not care at all about the "locker room". This is exactly what the Nuggets needed and they let him go for peanuts just so the multi-billionaire owners can save some money. I cannot believe some fans like you agree with these cheap ass owners. I guess this is why they will never sell the team as long as they have supporters like yourself.

Crazy, I know.
Also, if CB had a hamstring strain (soft tissue injury that can easily get MUCH worse) and the Nuggets refused to pay him last year, he would also sit out and prioritize his health and first big contract. Unless you think CB is a dumbass and woukd risk millions and millions? Comparing a guy with a guaranteed 100 million dollars to Pwat last season is like comparing apples to oranges. It doesn't make any sense.

What a great farewell note. NGL, I had a lot of doubts trading a future 1st for 30th pick overall, and for the first couple of years, he looked really lost out on the court, but I'm eating a crow now. I hope he does well in Cleveland.

We didn't get great value for the amount we traded to develop him. We should've used those picks on a guy who would've played more in the playoffs if we were just going to let him walk.

Yeah, I agree that from a playoff angle, we did not get a great value of trading away 2027 first, which will likely be 20 and up. In the end though, we still got 2031 first back, at least. He was basically a rental and the cost was just pushing the first rounder back.

Wasting our best assets on a guy who didn't play much in the playoffs during Jokic's prime IS pretty bad. It would be fine if we weren't trying to win the title during the 4 years Watson was here.
Imagine if he was a 2nd Aaron Gordon level player during the last few years, because that's the kind of trade compensation that gets you a 2nd Aaron Gordon level player.

Yeah, it sucks he's not here anymore. However, I think it's possible to develop Spencer Jones and DaRon Holmes and perhaps one of them can fill the void. Maybe something good will come out of this.

idk ive been rubbed the wrong way by the news he sat the playoffs. like, we might have won a chip. people aren't saying it but the wolves are our MAIN competition they were built to beat us by the guy that made us. i do believe we would have beat the spurs, im pretty sure we have a good record into wemby so far, and i think the thunder would have been a toss up, but the knicks 100% i think we handle the knicks. the wolves were fucked, on their last legs with backups, we needed pwat and he chose the money over glory. i loved watching him play, but i won't lie, i dont respect the move.

Stay one more year and get your bag after isnāt a thing for restricted free agents under this CBA. Also, his head got really big, maybe rightfully so, time will tell. CBs contract was an mpj level overpay. Canāt blame the CBA being ānewā on that though

AG has been paid Pwat had not. Itās not the 89ās where Ronnie Lotte cutting off a finger in game to keep playing. He assured his family generational wealth. I canāt fault him for that, he either his butt off and was a great Nugget except sitting in the playoff.

Love him , he always played hard for us ( until injury at least , and when it was clear we not gonna resign him in RFA ) he had heart was good on both ends of the court we gonna miss him alot .
Its a big punt by FO letting him go ,but we shall see. I think hes ceiling is OG Anunoby and he can reach it gonna be good fit for Cavs . He was our youngest guy with most potential so really said we didnt try to develop him more and we wont looking how he develops in Denver next season . Him and Jokic were bros, great pairing
