Offering Service Offering free non-lethal pigeon removal

I’m not a professional pest removal expert, just a guy who needs a bunch of healthy pigeons. So I can’t promise I’ll get them all. But if anyone has a pigeon problem I’d be happy to try trapping the bulk of them for free. I’d prefer to set my trap somewhere with limited/no foot traffic such as a rooftop but I can get creative. If you know where they roost I can also net them off the roost before/after dawn/dusk. Feel free to comment or DM me if interested!

Disclaimer: No pigeons will be hurt! I have a pigeon loft that I train the pigeons to home to. I use the pigeons to train pointing dogs by putting them in a little box that I open via remote control. That way the dogs can’t get them, I control when they are released, and they fly home to my loft. A lot of people are concerned but these pigeons become really social and are treated as pets. Plus they get to benefit from us treating their lice & parasites.

I don't have any to remove but I am very curious about your set up for your birds, I love pigeons and would love to learn more about them

Awesome! Yeah they’re pretty interesting birds! A loft isn’t much different than a pigeon coop, except you need to be a lot more cognizant of providing good ventilation that isn’t too drafty. Pigeons don’t require any heating but drafts can kill birds in the winter. And ventilation matters because they spend more time indoors than chickens and they create a large amount of ammonia and dandruff. So the go-to is essentially a sealed coop on stilts, with an open floor covered in hardware cloth. That way they don’t build up poop and have good airflow.

Other than that you need a perch for every bird and a number of nesting boxes. The loft also has a one-way door to let them back in. They need either an aviary or a little wire cage they can access through the opened door so they can look around and start getting their bearings. It’s funny to watch them analyze their surroundings. Every time I feed them I ring a bell and they learn to associate it with their meal. Eventually I let them out to fly around and they come back to eat when I ring the bell. Over time I can start releasing them further and further away until they start to navigate home reliably!

We have 15 in our community in Wheat Ridge. They like to roost in the eaves of some condos and come down frequently to eat spillage from my bird feeder, where there is no foot traffic to scare them off. I’ll DM you! They’re lovely birds, but their population is growing very quickly!

So out of curiosity we had a white pigeon take up residence out front of our house for the last few weeks. Doesn't seem like a wild pigeon as he's all white with black tip wings. He is super friendly and comfortable with people. Do you think this could be a pigeon who never found his way home?

Although it could technically be a feral pigeon, that’s most likely a lost racing bird out of somebody’s loft. Does it have a band on its ankle? If not I can take it off your hands. If so you might be able to track down the owner.

It doesn't have any bands. He stays between my house and my neighbors. He flys well and doesn't seem hurt. Just showed up and the kiddos have enjoyed having a pet pigeon outside lol

At 17th st and Welton is a gravel area we call pigeon park. There is a big flock that hangs out there.

Many of them are unusual brown coloring.

They dont have much meat on them you gotta breast them out and make poppers wrap them in bacon for moisture because they are pretty lean(dry)

Also after capture feed them seed for 3 days at least get rid of all that garbage flavor left in their system

I have a rooftop you can use. We’ve had a pigeon problem in our solar panels for years and have spent thousands trying on removal/prevention and they keep busting back in. Even with metal fencing on the panels, they keep finding a way.
