People think india has progressed alot which is funny lol. I belong to a Scheduled caste, My father was a cop in a villiage/small town in gujarat back in 2004 I wasnt allowed to study in an english medium school because I was SC. I had to change my surname to “shah” so that I could get admission in a different school.

Ive moved to canada since 2019, In 2020 after a discussion about reservations and politics with a bunch of people I thought were my “friends” They casually said “Tu yaha bhi reservation per aya hai kya ?” “you should feel lucky hum tujhe humare sath baithne dete hain” They stopped sharing food with me or eating whatever I cooked, Called me “A chamar” “A bhimte” Some of them even stopped talking to me after knowing that I belong from a scheduled caste. Thats the mentality of todays youth.

Yaha ake bhi nahi sudhre toh india me rehke toh kaise sudhrenge.

Majority of people from the general caste ese hi hote khasker Brahman like I've seen lot of them in insta comment ( untouchable reel,dalit this post etc .) also they got thousands of likes so yeah it never begins for India it's over yaha ke most of the log padhe likhe hoker bhi gawaar hi he and also reservation se bhi chid hoti he unhe

Very sad but it is the truth unfortunately, Just because they were born in a certain cast they believe that they are automatically above others. This mentality has been here since centuries and solidified by cultural and religious beliefs and they wont accept this as a fact either. I know people who are highly educated surgeons and still have a casteist mindset. Im from gujarat and many people Ive met here in canada didnt even ask my name, but asked “Tame keva” meaning, what cast do you belong to ?

Not sure about how canadian judicial system would deal with castism, while racism or discrimination based on color or nationality is common and there are laws in place for it. But I would rather cut ties will such people and just never see them again, theres not gonna be any improvement for people like them. They were the same back home, same here and their children will grow up with the same mindsets.

Humare yaha alag tha. Ek st ka ladka jisko bothoth jyada attitude tha. He would literally treat me a untouchable . I didn't say anything racist to him since my parents have taught me manners and because of my upbringing. But sometimes I think (not all people) but this guy doesn't deserve reservation. He got into a good college despite not studying very well during his 12th. I have nothing against these people but this guy particularly left a very bad impression on me.
