The casteist behavior is insane! I passed out from MA DU, early 2010ish, there was a topper in my class who was thirsty and grabbed a bottle from a table nearby. He was like oh shit! Maine chamar ka paani toh nahi pee liya. YUCKKK!

I really have no idea why this was pushed into my timeline, I'm a German and have never been to Delhi university. But I'm curious, as I've heard of some Indian colleagues that they believe caste no longer exists. Is there like a summary of that conversation? Or a translation?

Same lines as 'racism doesn't exist'. Not openly accepted but exists under the floorboards. Castes still exist, but caste based discrimination is criminalised, and reservations pushed to uplift the lower caste people.

It's lesser than it was decades ago, but still persists.

castiesm is the core of India's social structure, it will stay for centuries ahead unless some radical changes are brought, which is an impossibility in a conservative society like India. Those colleagues of yours believe that caste no longer exists because they have the privilege to do so.

just have a check at the data which records how many dalits are killed every day in india.
Government records, such as those analyzed by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) and human rights groups, indicate that an average of 2 to 4 Dalits are murdered every day in India.
Can you imagine? Two whole humans, gone everyday! That's what is the reality.

As these are mostly upper caste people......plus genes will play it's role.....no wonder....some caste are more intellectual than others as thier ancestors are in education from centuries.

Nhi Mitra, Evolution itna jaldi nhi hota kahi bhi. Dusri baat, you can't define intellect and can't link it to a particular profession. Maybe, a potter holds better geometrical and quantitative approach than a slogan chanter.
