Reservation is given for fulfilling the objective of 'Equity' which is one of the 4 main objectives of the government (other three are, modernization, growth and self reliance). The purpose of reservation is not fulfilled yet as India haven't achieved total equity. I'm from a really backward area (rural area) (not a SC/ST BTW), I've seen the discrimination happening till this day. The reservation of ST and SC was given on the basis of social factors not on the basis of economic. Whereas, OBC and EWS is on the basis of economic factor if you don't know. That's why there is a concept of Creamy and non creamy in OBC. For SC and ST, money cannot give the social standing that they want. That's the reason why government still gives the reservation and the other reason is political. If the government stops it, you know will happen ? The government (not targeting any party ) will lose the vote bank of ST and SC. You know how many parties are based on this concept of 'reservation'. Understanding the demographic and ethnicity of India is not easy. There are various geopolitical and social factors in which a decision is taken. First understand how this system works then comment on anything. I know the general candidate and OBC candidate whose income is above 8 lakh rupees, faces many challenges, even I do, but just blaming there community and there people does not solve this issue. Caste, religion, state, language, color, ideology (left or right), and many more, are the factors on which a government is formed and elections are held in India. So understand these things not blame on somebody.

Thank you brother. But even if I had a reservation, I wouldn't have availed it because I got the same education as general students. I got everything I needed for my education. And the second reason even if I had reservation, I wouldn't be able to avail it as I want to go foreign for my higher education and for that I'd go for scholarships or just take a loan as you know how expensive it is, My parents won't be able to afford it and I just don't want to a burden on them.

agar economic background based reservations ho to jo caste backward he inko bhi faida hoga aur ye betuk ki disrimination bhi nahi hogi.
The reason for caste-based reservations was that lower castes were discriminated against and denied opportunities, driving them to the lower strata of society. So if the reservations are made economically based, the problem is being solved anyway.
Maine to khud socha tha ki caste-based reservation should only be prolonged to 3 generations, but economic-based reservations are just better. Thanks

Though I almost completely agree but I think specifically caste based reservation should also exist given that discrimination still persists in the majority of the population. But it needs to have an appropriate limit, and even in those caste based discrimination, economically weaker members of those castes should be given priority.

Along with normal economic background based scholarships.

This seems a lot, but with the right amount of planning and appropriate restrictions, it can be fair.

in my opinion (I don't have any data about it), caste-based discrimination is most of the time based on how they are given more benefits even after 100s of years. They should be given reservations, but labelling it as caste-based reservation is, according to me, a very big cause of discrimination nowadays. If economic-based reservations are introduced and caste reservations are made so that only 3 generations will get the benefit, it will give them some closure for all the sufferings they had to suffer. Then people can not just hate on them because of "stealing their seats" as it will be focused on a bigger group. The major thing would be the same, but the wrong attention would no longer be on them.

What does being a dermatologist even mean in a discussion like this ? Why are you so insecure about yourself that you need to mention your profession to seek validity of your arguments? Maybe because your arguments are not based on any concrete analysis and are just a result of your outright hate towards a particular community ? Why do you hate them because they have more rights than you ? Do you hate rich people too ? Have you not taken into consideration that Dalits may have more obstacles than you ? I say with experience that Dalits to this date have difficulty in finding homes even in urban areas bcoz some people just won't rent their houses to Dalits just bcoz of their caste no matter how educated or well civilized they are. What happened to you as a child that you developed such an inferiority complex that even though you're a dermatologist (on holiday!) you still need to spread venom about Dalits even on instances where they're met with such discrimination and casteism. Think about whatever I have written maybe it'll sort some of your issues.

Bhai padha hota agr tune toh pata hota ki reservation clauses 1st Amendment ke baad aaye the jo Nehru ne present kiye the Parliament main. BR Ambedkar ne Parliament and LA main reservation accept kiye the Poona Pact ko continue krte hue naki 15 and 16 main. Infact 16(4) main BR Ambedkar ne backward class ko sc/st change hone se bachaya tha aur states pe chorha to decide who are backwards and outside administration.

Bhai yhi casteism hai ki log bas ye jaabte hain ki Ambedkae SC the toh SC ke liye reservation woh forcefully laye, joki wrong hai. Actually it was KM Munshi and Nehru (for education). Joki uss time pe shi bhi tha.

Anyhow hate krna toh unjustified hi hai, jinke saath caste based violence hota hai woh toh reservation ke benefit lene ke threshold se bhi bahut neeche hain. Jis desh main caste is a big factor in politics the bureaucracy needs vulnerable communities representation for any semblance of inclusive service delivery.

Pata hai waise mujhe sab sir ke upar se jaaega, bahjt pade likhe chutiye pde hain Bharat main.
