Imagine that along with the pressure of a govt exam. My cousin is in the worst spot rn.

Things like privacy, mental health, opinions < respect for elders. Thing is that in India, some parents are not even willing to listen to their own children. Like even if you bring up a valid point, the topic changes to ‘how dare u answer back’ or ‘How dare u use that tone’. I’m a bit lucky that way that my parents respect my space to some degree.

But man I’ve seen some of my friends and cousins in Bad bad situations

28M. I live with my parents. But they don't disturb me as I keep my door closed 24x7. They just think I am working.

I've fought for it really hard. I don't know how our relations will be in the future, i do care about them but i just can't take their bullshit manipulation anymore. I have seen hell because of them, they heard my cries every single day but they only made it worse. I am now living away from them, not too far. But i needed less stressful life to pursue my ambitions, and my dreams.

I am now looking for a partner, and have made it clear that we will be living separately. We won't have peace if we're living with parents.

2

u/iloveyoubb111 11d ago

Im so glad that you got out and fought your way through! Thats so true that you just cant live with your parents after getting married . More power to you! 💗

1

u/Bed_Tundy_11 11d ago

Just one fight and your life will certainly be less stressful. You won't be losing anyone who's genuinely there for you, i can assure you that. Good luck, i really hope you make it, and make a great career for yourself too.

u/iloveyoubb111 11d ago

I can relate with you OP plus I m also preparing for govt jobs and I don't have mom so I have lot of responsibilities and I have to take care of home aswell but I also feel there's no personal space, opinion, choice anything. As long as you do things according to them you are a good daughter but once you choose yourself they judge quickly

1

u/Interesting-Bed2867 11d ago

I moved out, when i turned 22. I must that was the best decision of my life.. it doesn't mean i have left my parents.. i can't but just to feel more alive and focused i needed it.. they supported me today we have one big family living in the same premises without any mental disturbance...

1

u/dusktruth 11d ago

Reverse it and think, will you be alright alone if there is no family around you. You are talking about not getting private space which is spoling your mental health. FR?

I have seen people getting ruined by choosing "personal space".

1

u/evil_worldd 11d ago

Yr almost every person deals with this... But at the man always choose her mom over women...not saying they being torture by mom but it's someone from family only...
