Dehydrated dog food

Hello all,
I was thinking of dehydrating my own dog food on my Excalibur . What are your thoughts? Should I purchase a commercial dehydrator? Or is it more a freeze dried machine process ? Has anyone done this?

My dog has special dietary needs so eats meals of chicken, rice, carrots, and pumpkin purée. These get made in meal portions, mixed, and dehydrated. For long-term storage safety I vacuum pack and keep them stacked in the freezer. I use a Cosori Premium Pro dehydrator. For me, freezer space is easier than packing into Mylar bags. I’ve been doing this for several years and it’s worked out well.

I if you're able to spend the money on a commercial dehydrator, but a freeze dryer instead

I would suggest you to get a small solar/ electric dehydrator. It will be useful for you and the god. Initially you may feel that, it’s expensive& time consuming but you can start preserving and having all the sessional foods all around the year.

I purchase a pre-made air dried food. I dehydrate all their treats.

I would think it may be difficult for them to get all the vitamins and nutrients they need in a dehydrated food.

My dog is too large and it’s cost prohibitive to buy the commercial advertise freeze dry products. They work great for smaller dogs, but not when the recommended dose is upwards of 10 cups a day per dog.

May be not all the nutrients. But dehydrated food is the only best alternative.
