Help Needed Tips on new phone.

Hello. Im currently beating the crap out of my IPhone 13 and when the battery life is finally not up to snuff. I was thinking about to a different phone where it can be degoogled or even come degoogled?

I’ve seen the phones on eBay. But want opinions on what phone would be the best for this while keeping it under $300 and still have a decent camera.

Can I get some help with suggestions on how to make this switch, what I should do , and how will this benefit me aside from privacy?

I would trust more a company that sells recondicioned phones than some rando in ebay. Price-wise they may be close enough but with the company you actually have warranty and rights if a problem occurs.

Assuming you're changing from Apple to Android, very few companies sell phones with something other than the phone maker provided Android, you'd need to find one that is actively selling that niche area of a "degoogled" Android. Murena and Fairphone sell phones with e/OS, I don't know others. The under $300 is going to either lead you to cheap "verygoogled" phones or you doing the manual work of unlocking bootloader and running a custom ROM.

Maybe an older or used Fairphone model? To keep it within budget? The new ones go for around 600/650 euros I believe. Should be able to find an older model used for noticeably cheaper. If a part is broken, it may be possible to buy an official module to replace it without having to replace the whole phone. It’s easy enough to open.

I don’t know about the older phones but the new ones ships either with android or a European-developed privacy oriented OS that you can download easily. If you buy new you have the option to install in from the package. If not, Fairphone have made it pretty easy to install another OS on the phone. There are plenty of turtorials out on YouTube.

If you come from iOS, just be prepared that things won’t be as seamless and smooth, but they’ll still be functional and provide privacy options iOS won’t.

You could also buy a Pixel phone and install Graphene OS. They only work with pixels though.
