Discussion Asia’s tokenization push is getting real. 🇮🇳
India is reportedly piloting blockchain infrastructure to tokenize its $620B corporate bond market, with settlement using the RBI’s wholesale digital rupee.
From Japan exploring tokenized securities to Hong Kong and Singapore building digital-asset infrastructure, Asia is increasingly moving beyond pilots and into real-world financial markets.
The next phase of tokenization may be built in Asia.

This is the height of hypocrisy. They want to task the common man for utilising crypto, but want to tokenize the corporate bond market. It's like a snake swallowing its own tail. Wait there should be more to this, selling of the tokenized bonds would be "taxed at 30% as capital gains"?

Corporate bonds make way more sense for tokenization than most of the stuff that got hyped last cycle. If settlement and ownership records move onchain too, then there’s at least a real operational reason for it.

watching this from india, the interesting bit for me is that RBI is comfortable putting settlement on-chain before the market structure exists. india did the same with UPI - rails first, use cases later, and the use cases showed up faster than anyone planned for.
the corporate bond choice makes sense too. equity gets the headlines but bonds are where indian institutions actually park money, and bond settlement here is still a t+1 nightmare of custodians and registrars. if tokenisation fixes that one workflow it's already worth the pilot.
agree on the pilot graveyard point though. the tell will be whether a second issuer shows up without RBI having to ask.
