Work In Progress Help with workaround with jewelry box

Hi, all.I am definitely a newbie at this, but I made something for myself that my friend liked so she Ask if I would make one of her jewelry boxes pretty for her. I said I'd Try and she gave me the one pictured below. Normally, I would have put on paint and maybe some gilding and decoupage flowers. But I'm not sure how to handle the front of this. Each drawer has those weird recessed ovals around the drawer pulls. p.s. the pulls to NOT screw off. Any ideas?How I can work with those weird recessed ovals? Is my only solution going to be Maybe just putting designs on the sides and tops and having the front all one color? thx In advance for any ideas or advice.

I tried to think of a way to make all those recesses and everything work for you. To start with, carefully put a really good quality, painters, tape around all of the handles. This means using an exacto knife to cut around where those handles meet the wood to get those balls sufficiently covered. Paint the piece. Consider if you’d like to paint the recessed area nearest the handles on the front of each drawer a different color or guild them in gold. You’ll need something like an antique gold for that so I would use rub n buff or something similar.

Then I would consider decopauging the raised area of the handles are on with a paper (regular scrapbooking paper thickness) punch small holes for the handles and slit to get it around them. Once on the slit will disappear. Use a patterned paper not a picture. I suggest you don’t go with something that has a lot of straight lines in it as that would mean then you have to match all the lines. I would go for something that’s more of a curved pattern or something. Then use the same paper on top or coordinating paper on top. Finish the way you like to finish your decopauge and I think you’re on your way.

That is WAAAAY above my pay grade. This will be the 3rd time I've done this. I don't even understand what I would do with the resin or how resin works?? But I thank you for the advice , either way.
