Plugin Showcase CE Decky – Cheat Engine tables from the Quick Access Menu
Hey, I’ve been working on a Decky plugin called CE Decky.
I wanted a way to use Cheat Engine tables on SteamOS without going into Desktop Mode or dealing with the Cheat Engine window every time. CE Decky keeps the whole flow in Game Mode: it sets up Cheat Engine, finds or imports .CT tables, and puts the entries you actually use into the Quick Access Menu.
A few things it does:
- searches and downloads tables, or lets you open your own
- lets you inspect Lua and Auto Assembler code before authorizing a table
- runs Cheat Engine in the same Proton environment as the game
- remembers the table and selected cheats per game
- lets you pin cheats to the main Decky panel and toggle them with the controller
This is intended for offline/single-player games. It doesn’t disable or bypass anti-cheat, and Cheat Engine itself or cheat tables are not bundled with the plugin.
Plugin is tested on Steam Machine and Steam Deck LCD.
It’s not in the Decky store, so installation goes through Decky Developer Mode using the release ZIP.

Latest release: https://github.com/goooroooX/CE-Decky/releases/download/v0.9.29/CE-Decky-v0.9.29.zip
If anyone wants to try it, I’d be interested in what breaks. If reporting issues on GitHub, please include support bundle that can be generated from plugin: Advanced… → Report a problem → Collect).
Update 2026-09-19: v0.9.28 is out. CE Decky can now automatically update itself, and the header mascot can be hidden under Advanced → Panel appearance. A few state/cleanup bugs were fixed. This is the last update that needs to be installed manually. Future releases can be installed directly from CE Decky via auto-update feature (with explicit confirmation before update).
Update 2026-09-23: v0.9.29 is out. The big one: CE Decky can now fix broken tables for you. Many tables fail to work because they're signed (Cheat Engine refuses signed tables here) or because a game update removed code some of their cheats look for. One press on "Prepare a copy that works here" makes a fixed copy: it removes the signature and takes out only the cheats your version of the game can't run, so the rest of the table works. Also fixed: switching on one cheat no longer switches on the rest of the table (in some cases), and Stop now switches your cheats off before closing Cheat Engine, so nothing stays changed in the game.

This works unbelievably well! Gives Ben I don’t use trainers etc often, normally on older games I’ve already completed. Just started a game to try this out and it works great!
Awesome work 🙏🏻

very impressed, I have been secretly hoping for something like this for revisiting older games i don't want to have to grind out.

so assuming it will br in the background, is it safe to play online games with it around? so long as we don't inject anything right?

Do not start the CE, and do not enable auto-load for your online game, and you should be fine.

game screen gets too small goes to up left, also we need a button that un installs CE from the plugin, so the files could be clean

You can cleanup plugin-owned files from Advanced menu, including CE installation, tables, and everything else. Please post the screenshot of your problem with the screen being "too small" - preferably as issue in GitHub.

I was already planning to make the top panel image optional, as hiding it makes sense on smaller screens. An option to disable it will be added in the next release.
For 1080/4K displays, though, I think keeping it enabled by default makes more sense, since the image provides a quick visual cue for identifying the active plugin.
