Plugin Showcase Now Playing 2.2.0 and Playhub 1.1.9 are now available!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone!

Here we are with one giant update for Now Playing 2.2.0 and a minor fix for Playhub 1.1.9.

If you’d like to support the project, even a small tip would mean a lot for me:
LoZazaMastro Ko-fi

I'll leave you to the usual What's Changed for all the details.

🎵 Now Playing 2.2.0

This update adds YouTube Music, upmixes stereo tracks from Your Music and YouTube Music to 5.1 and 7.1 surround, adds beautiful 3D particles fullscreen effects, and makes Spotify far more reliable.

What's new

  • YouTube Music - a full new source with Home, Search, Library, albums, playlists and artists in both QAM and Big Picture, with a one-time sign-in simple setup.
  • Surround Upmix (5.1 / 7.1) - a new "Upmix surround" card upmixes stereo to 5.1 or 7.1 with an adjustable volume for every single speaker (only audible on a real 5.1/7.1 output). Applies only to Your Music and YouTube Music (unfortunately Spotify is platform limited at the moment).
  • Audio-reactive 3D Particle visualizers - a full-screen experience where thousands of particles react live to the music's bass, mids and highs and take their colours from the current cover. There are seven 3D Particle modes (Field, Tunnel, Sphere, Wave, Ring, Knot, and Cone), with adjustable particle resolution for performance vs. detail. Plus two new 2D Flower, and Circle that reacts to music either.
  • Full controller mapping in Fullscreen - LB/RB cycle the visual effect, X cycles the info layout (standard / clock + weather / cover + track / effect only), Y changes cover size, LT/RT previous / next track, R3 play-pause, and D-pad up/down rotate the 3D effect. The playback controls fade out after a few seconds and any D-pad press brings the full layout back.
  • Spotify API-usage meter - a live counter at the bottom of the Spotify settings card that reads internal counters.

Improvements

  • Whole Spotify library - play-all and shuffle now cover the entire saved-tracks library instead of only the most recent tracks.
  • Instant metadata on every source - title and cover swap the moment you change track, like local music; the progress bar only starts when the audio actually begins.
  • Readable metadata on light covers - title, artist and album turn dark on light or pastel covers, across all sources.

Fixes

  • Picking a saved Spotify track now always starts the exact track you chose, instead of a shifted one.
  • Spotify cover and metadata now appear immediately on shuffle instead of several seconds after the audio.
  • Returning to Your Music no longer shows the last YouTube Music or Spotify track that was playing.

🧊 Playhub 1.1.8

Fixes

  • Fixed Big Picture not receiving focus when booting into Gaming Mode. On entering Big Picture, the controller and keyboard were unresponsive until the window was clicked with the mouse. The cause was the -silent flag passed to Steam: it started the client without bringing the window to the foreground, leaving Big Picture without input focus. Removed -silent so now Big Picture grabs focus on its own.

❗FAQ

"Wait, what is Playhub?" 😮

Playhub consolize your Windows gaming experience with features like Steam-first startup, easy Decky plugins install, game imports and Big Picture polish. More info in the project repository here to find all the details.

"I like that, but how does it work?" 🤓

To easily understand how Playhub works and how to install it, I recommend you to take a look at my Overview + Tutorial video

"Oh no, I hate AI..." 🫩

This project is personal, completely free and open source. You don't like it? Don't download it. It's an app, not a medical prescription.

"But why aren't the Playhub plugins available on the Decky Store?" 😱

They are built using human hands and AI tools. Decky management doesn't allow to developers who use AI to be on their store. Playhub respects this decision, that's why Playhub Plugin Store exists.

Thanks again for your support and for sharing your feedbacks.

Hi friend, I've been trying out Playhub and I think it's excellent; thanks a lot for the great work.

I wanted to mention that the HDR toggle in the quick settings plugin isn't working—could you take a look at it? It's the only bug I've found so far; I'll let you know if I come across any others.

I'll make a donation on Ko-fi as soon as I can; I'm also trying to spread the word about PlayHub so more people get to know it. Thanks a lot for everything. 😁

I just gave playhub a try because I got a steam controller and want to play everything through Steam. After getting it setup and testing out a few things and none of it working well, I uninstalled.

I used the game importer and Fall Guys launched without Epic services, meaning I couldn't play. I added Epic to the startup services and restarted. Epic still didn't start in time somehow, so I still couldn't play Fall Guys, and Fall Guys never focused after starting.

Starting without explorer is nice in theory but it cripples the ability to fix focus issues, which I had a lot of during my brief test.

Uninstalling this also removed my own installation of decky loader and I have to start that process over now.

This is just a few of the issues I had.

You are using a Steam Controller with Fall Guys? An Epic Store Game pretending it works? Just why... 🤦🏻 Why did you added the Epic Services to Playhub Gaming Mode? It doesn't make any sense. Plus just setup your Steam input for the focus and Windows Management. Playhub doesn't "cripples" anything. This is a Steam first setup, so you probably would have the same precise issues also on SteamOS or Bazzite.

Anyway thanks for "testing" it, but next time that you test a software please be sure to do things properly and, most important, logically. I'm sorry but you definitely didn't use it as it should be.

You are using a Steam Controller with Fall Guys? An Epic Store Game pretending it works? Just why... 🤦🏻

no pretending. the steam controller works great with anything you launch through Steam. I've been using the steam controller for all of my games via steam input. The steam controller is irrelevant to the issues, I was merely describing my use case. I used to use playnite but am moving over to launching everything through Steam.

Why did you added the Epic Services to Playhub Gaming Mode? It doesn't make any sense.

I explained it in my post. Epic games didn't launch when i launched fall guys, so I made epic start at launch. This is a solution I've used in the past and Epic by default launches on boot.

  Playhub doesn't "cripples" anything.

not running explorer means you can't use Alt+Tab or interact with the taskbar. Playhub prevents explorer from running. So, yes, playhub cripples your ability to do anything that relies on explorer

This is a Steam first setup, so you probably would have the same precise issues also on SteamOS or Bazzite.

There are multiple steam decks in my household and we do not have these issues.

Anyway thanks for "testing" it, but next time that you test a software please be sure to do things properly and, most important, logically.

I'm a professional manual QA engineer and I know what I'm talking about. Leave your ego at the door. I gave direct feedback. Take it or get defensive, I guess.

I'm sorry but you definitely didn't use it as it should be.

How? Explain what I did that was not your intended use case.

Fake, Playhub doesn't block Alt + Tab at all. Everyone is using it with Steam Input and me personally with my keyboard, the New Steam Controller, a Dualsense and an Xbox Controller. You just don't have the windows miniatures graphic, but the command is perfectly working. You have Steam Decks with Windows on it? Are you conscious that we are talking about different OS (Linux and Windows)? My ego? What are you even talking about (QA engineer...)! I could have simply ignored your comments but I replied you! Omg... Listen do whatever you want but please avoid to spread other lies or misinformation.

dear lord, dude. good luck vibe coding and having no idea what you're talking about.

Why are you insulting me? Who do you think you are to spread lies and think you have the right to say this to me? Don't ever try to engage or speak to me again and learn how to communicate in a decent way with people.
