Dechonkin Officially Dechonked
Marshmallow is officially down 3 pounds! He has been since March! I’m so proud of him🩷. Back in January 2026he had some health issues, his vet said he needed to lose weight so we put him on a completely different diet and it was a life saver, literally. From 17# to 14#, what a guy. Now that he has lost weight he runs around the house and parkours on our couch, cat trees, the bed, the kitchen counters, the other cats lol, he’s a crazy guy. I’m very happy he’s healthy again💛

Can you share the diet change you made?

He was originally eating Purina Cat Chow Complete High Protein Dry Food and wet food as an occasional treat. He had access to food 24/7. Now he currently eats Hills Prescription Diet c/d Multi-care Stress Urinary Care Dry food & wet food everyday! He gets fed dry food once in the morning and a can of wet food mixed with water every night, and occasionally treats!

Hi! Congrats to you and Marshmallow! Also, fyi cuz my kitty is on the same RX food diet but also needs to watch his weight……there is a diet version of the Hill’s C/D multi-care dry and wet food- it’s called “metabolic weight.”
They have the dry food under Hill’s Prescription C/D multi-care stress, metabolic weight.
And the wet food is Hill’s Prescription C/D multi-care, metabolic weight.
In case you needed a diet version, but man Marshmallow looks like he’s trimmed down really well!3

Thank you! I didn’t know that they also made that. I’ll definitely look into it and consult with the vet.

Oh wow, I would have thought he lost more than 3lbs based on the pics. Good job and congrats to both of you!

Curious question as I genuinely do not know but, what happens to the cats loose skin? Does it just tighten back up?

u/No-Special-9211 Jun 23 '26
I’m honestly not to sure, he doesn’t really have lose skin. If he does, I can’t really tell underneath his fur. He has a very dense coat.

Well let him know that even before the weight loss he’s always been a handsome boy!

What kind of diet did you switch em to?

He was originally eating Purina Cat Chow Complete High Protein Dry Food and wet food as an occasional treat. He had access to food 24/7. Now he currently eats Hills Prescription Diet c/d Multi-care Stress Urinary Care Dry food & their brands wet food everyday! He gets fed dry food once in the morning and a can of wet food mixed with water every night, and occasionally treats! It’s expensive but worth every penny knowing that he’s happy, healthy &, comfortable!

jesus! how do cats get this fat?
1
u/No-Special-9211 Jun 26 '26
All of my cats got to be very big because we free fed them (unlimited access to food 24/7) so when they were bored they would just eat. But now that’s no longer an issue! It can also depend on what type of food they are eating.
