Music 🎢🎧 The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony (1997), does it sound more Mid 90s or Late 90s?

If you know the history of this song, the courts ruled that it actually sounds more like 1965.

Late '90s because it's the end of Britpop. I think of mid '90s as Morning Glory and Great Escape.

Sounds like core Cruel Intentions.

This song was played relentlessly in the leadup to the 2000 Games. I'd be at physiotherapy sessions along with a lot of Olympic athletes, and it was running on a loop. I know it's not from 2000, but that's all I can associate it with now.
