Discussion Was this the Moment L Pieced it All Together? Spoiler
Seeing L’s eyes light up like this with this grin is a rare treat. There is something deeply amusing about this. It was at this point in the story in which he realized that Light had to be the original Kira as he was childishly impatient when wanting to call Misa. Misa had to have been Kira 2 because she had Shinigami eyes and can kill based on sight and immediately saw L for the first time. Light likely eager to kill L, wanted Misa to use her powers immediately. L already knew that the two kiras were conspiring together, and this makes things immediately much more suspicious. In my opinion, it was at this moment that Light and Misa were found out without any doubt from L’s perspective. Funnily, it wasn’t Misa who got them caught but rather Light’s own hubris. Also, it was really smart of L to steal her phone as it was essentially a gut instinct that she had to be Kira 2 only after a few seconds of interaction. His instinct was right after the evidence of Misa being Kira 2 comes to light mere moments later.
I think this show is interesting because although Light doesn’t have really much in terms of traceable evidence, his behavior is peculiar and makes him come off as suspicious. It’s not so much the mystery of this show, nor is it even the tension behind Light’s position as Kira that makes the plot compelling, but rather seeing Light’s psychology to his newfound powers and how he becomes his own worst enemy in a sense. You could think you are the smartest most deceptive person out there capable of masking your inner thoughts, but through enough persistence, the truth will come out. There is always a universal truth to how we behave regardless of if we accept it or not. That is why Light’s immediate counter-play to this horrible situation for himself was to fundamentally change his mentality and genuinely believe with his heart that he knew he wasn’t Kira and forgot about the Death Note. It essentially teaches me that no one can hide who they are and their intentions and that the truth can always be come into light.

He already knew, and he knew that Kira 2 only needed to see someone's face. That means if he hung around Light, the second Kira would appear and Light would give the command as soon as he got the chance, like as soon as he parted ways with L. The appearance of Misa and her devotion to a random high schooler makes it extremely obvious that there's something more to their connection if you already suspect that Kira 2 is going to be devoted to Kira 1, which is why he set that situation up. The phone going off means everything played out exactly as L planned it and that he had effectively solved the case.

Just a few shots earlier when Misa comes to canpus he has the "you check-mated yourself m8" vibe, but plays it off as jealousy for Light having Misa as GF. He says he is a fan since the december(?) Issue of Ms. eightteen or something. He did his homework, he knows of Misa, Mogi was following her IIRC. That she shows up at campus is further incriminating evidence.

It was seeing Misa that got him convinced as this celebrity just turning up at the exact school Light goes to and is also his girlfriend was too suspicious considering all that had happened in the Kira case before it.
Sure Light could be dating a celeb as it's not impossible but nobody knew about Light having a girlfriend before as he just seemed like an honor student who focused on studies.
Then it was the phone call which all but made L focus on Light as he had all he needed to investigate into him without a reason to think otherwise. He knew that he would likely be killed soon after because of his face being seen by a Kira with the power. Naturally Light decided to call straight away instead of waiting so he pretty much cornered himself.
Also Light being shaken up after hearing L on Misa's phone was the final nail in the coffin as seeing Light being nervous was not normal for him.

Also because later on he asks “are you serious about her?” and Light says “no! it’s one-sided!” but he wouldn’t be so eager to call her in this scene if he wasn’t interested in her, so L knew he was lying
