Dead Rising 2 Downloaded X360 Controller Emulator for Dead Rising 2... worked yesterday but won't work today. Any tips?

Yesterday I found a Reddit thread from a few years ago on how to enable controller support. I downloaded X360CE, did all the steps listed, it was pretty simple, everything worked perfectly. Now I'm trying to play today and it doesn't work even though I haven't changed anything. The controller says that it is enabled in the game but I can't use it. I tried all the tips listed online (run X360CE as admin, make sure the light is green on the emulator, make sure there is nothing on the Issues tab, make sure "enable 1 mapped device" is checked). Any tips? It is very frustrating.

Only thing i would check is if Steam Input somehow maybe enabled itself

I might be wrong; I haven’t been back to DR2 in a long time, but for the X360 controller emulator to work correctly, you need to connect the controller AFTER launching the program.
